I’m sorry to the people of Russia that oppose the war. But fuck putin.
I don’t think Russians oppose the war. Everything I’m reading is somewhere between 75% and most, are for the war.
Oh, and since the war started, Southeast Asia has boomed in Russian holiday-makers. So while their country invades another, its people are tanning on beaches in record numbers.
It's very risky to publicly oppose Putin. Great way to become jailed or dead.
And better they are on a beach than killing Ukranians. The ones that flee are leaving to avoid participating in the conflict.
Meanwhile, Putin needs to die.
Yeah, some random Russian pollster calls you and asks if you approve of the war. Are you honest or are you going to say what they want to hear so they don't report you to someone?
25% is still pretty big portion of the population
This is like saying that 75% of people in New York and Los Angeles eat terrible pizzas, therefore 75% of Americans eat terrible pizzas
It's that level of ignorance
No, it’s like saying that literally 3 in every 4 Russians you meet anywhere are all for invading Ukraine, while the remaining 25% aren’t sure, don’t care, or are outright against it.
You know only 44% of Germans voted for Hitler, right?
It's illegal to be publicly against the war. A child drew an anti war image and she's now in foster care and her father under house arrest.
Oh, I get it.
My country starts invading another innocent one and killing its civilians and I just go about my life with a smile because I’m frightened to speak up.
You teach your kids that weak shit? Home of the brave and all that?
Not sure your point. I'm explaining why Russian polls aren't going to reflect how the people really feel and shouldn't be used to prove internet arguments. Of course it doesn't really matter though. Support, indifference and rejection are indistinguishable when they aren't backup by actions.
That's what I mean. You're hearing the opinions of people in Moscow or St P's; a tiny proportion.
Massive bias in your sources
Interesting to see all the offensive campaigns going on from Ukraine.
Russians started the war with the childish notion that they can bomb ukranians all they want and that ukranians wont bomb them back.
The sowed the wind, now they shall reap the whirlwind.
Was Russia not expecting a lot of rich countries to give weapons to Ukraine?
I don't know what they were expecting.
They got too high on their own propaganda and copium supply
They had planned for Ukraine to be taken in a matter of days. Take Kyiv, replace the government with their own puppet, and done. So much for that plan when they find themselves targetted by drones, a short-lived military coup, tank and infantry warfare against NATO gear, and the rest of this mess. Imploding Russia's credibility as a military power.
After Georgia and Crimea, probably not. A Yes Man advisor probably got asked about invasion scenarios and told Putin what he wanted to hear.
Oh it's gonna be worse than that. Whirlwinds don't usually read mach+ speeds...
This is the best summary I could come up with:
For the third time in just over a week, Moscow has shut down major airports as a result of Ukrainian drone strikes on the Russian capital.
Officials closed Vnukovo, Sheremetyevo and Domodedovo airports, which provide domestic and international flights for civilians.
While officials with the Russian Defense Ministry said Ukraine was behind the attack, Ukrainian authorities have yet to confirm, according to the Associated Press.
Ukrainian drone attacks have at least twice before caused shutdowns of all major airports in the greater Moscow area, disrupting and delaying dozens of flights.
These shutdowns come amid a streak of near-daily Ukrainian drone attacks on Moscow and the surrounding region, the Associated Press reported.
In return, Russian forces have repeatedly targeted Ukrainian grain storage depots, the Associated Press reports.
The original article contains 172 words, the summary contains 126 words. Saved 27%. I'm a bot and I'm open source!
In terms of tactics, it makes sense. I used to play loads of starcraft, easiest way to get an enemy off your front is to attack the command center.
Fuck with their mineral line. Harass harass harass.
A little medivac here a little banshee there and woopsie daisy a mineral line just blew up from a mine
Have you ever been to Sheremetyevo?
Best thing you could do is shut the fuckin place down, it's held together with gaffer tape

-
Rule 1: posts have the following requirements:
- Post news articles only
- Video links are NOT articles and will be removed.

The key points in 1-2 paragraphs is allowed (even encouraged!), but large segments of articles posted in the body will result in the post being removed. If you have to stop and think "Is this fair use?", it probably isn't. Archive links, especially the ones created on link submission, are absolutely allowed but those that avoid paywalls are not.

Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban.
Similarly, if you see posts along these lines, do not engage. Report them, block them, and live a happier life than they do. We see too many slapfights that boil down to "Mom! He's bugging me!" and "I'm not touching you!" Going forward, slapfights will result in removed comments and temp bans to cool off.
-
Rule 6: Memes, spam, other low effort posting, reposts, misinformation, advocating violence, off-topic, trolling, offensive, regarding the moderators or meta in content may be removed at any time.
-
Rule 7: We didn't USED to need a rule about how many posts one could make in a day, then someone posted NINETEEN articles in a single day. Not comments, FULL ARTICLES. If you're posting more than say, 10 or so, consider going outside and touching grass. We reserve the right to limit over-posting so a single user does not dominate the front page.
We ask that the users report any comment or post that violate the rules, to use critical thinking when reading, posting or commenting. Users that post off-topic spam, advocate violence, have multiple comments or posts removed, weaponize reports or violate the code of conduct will be banned.
All posts and comments will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. This means that some content that violates the rules may be allowed, while other content that does not violate the rules may be removed. The moderators retain the right to remove any content and ban users.
