Call me crazy but I think all immigration should always be legal 🤷🏻‍♀️

If China's population decides to migrate to Luxembourg, there's going to be problems.

That's a hypothetical.

The non-hypothetical is that climate change is going to massively worsen outcomes of poor people, especially in tropical and subtropical regions. The rate of migration from Africa to Europe is only going to increase longer term, no matter how many dictatorships EU and UK are making deals with. Unless we act to limit climate change and help people in these regions to adapt. But in any case, we need to learn to better deal with migrants rather than try to keep them at bay at all cost.

Exactly! They will come, no matter what. But of we create a welcoming climate and a dynamic culture, we can all benefit from that. There is a correlation between the size of a country's population and its economic success, if the country is politically stable. Hate against immigrants creates nothing but instability though.

By the same logic if the planet explodes there’s going to be problems. Just because you can invent a scenario in which it’s a bad idea doesn’t mean that scenario exists.

Thats not going to happen.

It's so weird. This Rwanda-deportations idea has been taken up by politicians in other countries as well, despite very obviously being completely illegal because of Human Rights. But as the UK government insists on pushing for this bogus illegal measure, "conservatives" all over Europe pretend like the idea is validated and supposedly it's going to "solve migration". Or something.

This is the best summary I could come up with:

The Home Office will launch a surprise operation to detain asylum seekers across the UK on Monday in preparation for deportation to Rwanda, weeks earlier than expected, the Guardian understands.

Officials plan to hold refugees who turn up for routine meetings at immigration service offices and will also pick people up nationwide in a two-week exercise.

It is thought the launch of the operation has been timed to coincide with Thursday’s local council elections in England, to boost Rishi Sunak’s claims he is cracking down on illegal migration.

On both occasions, hundreds of local people surrounded immigration enforcement vehicles to prevent asylum seekers being removed after tense standoffs between protesters and police.

Demonstrators were alerted by a protesters’ network to the detentions on Kenmure Street, and two men were eventually released from Border Force custody after a six-hour confrontation to avoid violent clashes.

Speaking on Monday before the Lords and Commons sat through the night to pass the safety of Rwanda (asylum and immigration) bill, Sunak said: “To detain people while we prepare to remove them, we’ve increased detention spaces to 2,200.

The original article contains 368 words, the summary contains 182 words. Saved 51%. I'm a bot and I'm open source!
