I thought I was going mental for a few days, but no, the option to open stuff in an external app is gone from both Mull and IceRaven, while it's still present in Tor Browser.

I don't mean the option in settings. I mean the item in the main menu and context menu.

Firefox for Android 116 release notes

https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/android/116.0/releasenotes/

Say:

Fixed "Open links in apps" issue when Firefox is not the default browser.

So they did something, but I don't understand what, because the bug isn't listed and atm I'm too sick to navigate Mozilla's bug system. And web search gave me nothing useful.

Does anyone know what's up?

I don't have either browser set as default, nor an app. So if I'm browsing something in a browser, I want to have the option to launch a specific link in an app if I want to.

I'd attach pics but I'm getting an error when uploading, and again too sick to figure it out. (Going back to bed now.)

Based on some reports in Bugzilla, the missing option to open in app seems to be a few month old bug. A workaround that I've been using is to "Share" the link with the app you want. Assuming the app supports it in the first place.

Interesting, I'd been using it just fine until the version that was meant fo fix it... Sigh. What's the link/#no of the bug please?

Yea share sometimes work as a replacement, like e.g. opening YT links in NewPipe, but in some apps it triggers a share feature instead of open, so most of the time it's not usable.

Sorry for the late reply. I didn't get notified of new messages.

I found these bug reports on Bugzilla:

At a quick glance these seem to be the same issue you noticed.
