Sony backed down (twitter.com)

Although I don't know if Steam will re-enable sales for regions without PSN coverage.

I just want the game to die so people quit LARPing across socials. The super ultra "ironic" freedom and democracy shit is so played out.

Yes I agree. What if warhammer 40k got stupidly popular with pretty much everyone and also they understand even less, somehow? That’s helldivers to me. I don’t really care how actually well made or fun it is. At least before I could ignore the chuds in a still relatively niche tabletop game and paint pretty models, now they are all swarming my Internet floorboards every second tab screaming about bugs and robots and democracy. Cool.

It's so old. I got to the point where i was snapping at people repeating the exact same cliched "i'm calling the democracy officer!" Shit to every discussion. And then i stopped going to the subreddit because god redditors are insufferable.

Gamers really fighting for the things that matter

cringe

I mean it does kind of matter. People spent money on this shit and were no longer allowed to play it for no reason. It was basically a robbery. But will that make them learn to demand better in the future? No.

[-] Dirt_Owl@hexbear.net 14 points 6 months ago

Fair enough. Sorry.

[-] Owl@hexbear.net 31 points 6 months ago

For some percentage of them, this is going to be their first experience with collective action getting the goods, and going to lead to them trying it more times in more contexts. And that's pretty cringe, but it's still a good thing.

Yeah I think I was being a little too dismissive maybe lol

The PSN thing locked out people in countries where PSN isn't supported but Steam is, which are usually poorer countries or sanctioned countries. So allowing this allows people from more countries to paly together. Which is positive or whatever blah blah blah.

A consoooomer riot isn't a labour riot, but it is something.

Sony is a dinosaur company ran by businessmen who still believe if they make the games really hard you'll be forced to put more quarters in your PS5 to keep playing, the average lumpengamer will not be able to manifest this into any other concessions from more competent billion dollar publishers (or more important issues than consumer rights)

It's literally clicking a red thumbs down im-doing-my-part

[-] Evilphd666@hexbear.net 13 points 6 months ago

One should ask the reasons WHY the PSN is not available in certain countries. Bet it has a bit to do with western olgarchs trying to do a collective punishment via corporate loophole. But that's just-a-theory

[-] EmoThugInMyPhase@hexbear.net 14 points 6 months ago

I imagine the market isn't big in some countries. It's not even available in some European countries like Latvia and Lithuania lol

i mean it's also easy to go write a bad review on steam

The tweet:

Helldivers fans -- we’ve heard your feedback on the Helldivers 2 account linking update. The May 6 update, which would have required Steam and PlayStation Network account linking for new players and for current players beginning May 30, will not be moving forward.

We’re still learning what is best for PC players and your feedback has been invaluable. Thanks again for your continued support of Helldivers 2 and we’ll keep you updated on future plans.

Gamers voted and it worked. This time.

[-] Esoteir@hexbear.net 8 points 6 months ago

got severe whiplash from seeing Ian Miles Cheong in the replies, but I'm not surprised considering this game's community lmao

[-] Frank@hexbear.net 5 points 6 months ago

Cheong is exactly the class of reactionary shit I expect to see involved in these campaigns.

[-] Gorb@hexbear.net 6 points 6 months ago

Wonder if steam will list the game for sale again in those countries. Must have gotten a lot of refunds
