The Malibu was a bland car and won’t be missed, but what I will miss is that was the last sedan they had. Now they will make nothing but larger crossovers, SUVs, etc. I hate that cars keep growing bigger like that.
I once heard the Malibu described as the car for people who hate driving but insist on buying American.
So essentially the Altima of American brands.

They're all moving to bigger vehicles because fewer bigger cars = higher profits. It stinks, and is definitely not what the country needs.
I rented a Malibu several years ago and it was the most bland, uninspired car I have ever driven. It set a new bar for mediocre. There was nothing "bad" about it, but I couldn't wait to be rid of it. And that's coming from a guy who has owned more than one Buick. I can't say I'm sorry to see the badge retired.
I drive one for work and it's nearly invisible. It's painfully bland. This is a great decision for GM, I don't think anyone will miss them except perhaps bank robbers.
