How much do you think automakers are bribing the GOP with? My guess is it's only like $10k each, I bet politicians are cheap af in Michigan.

Based on other reports of US bribery, it might not even be that much. Politicians seem to be on sale for shockingly little money sometimes, especially at the local level.

I bet you are right. They are surprisingly cheap everywhere.

$10k is way too much. Probably just couple thousand

Probably just a nice dinner party where they were able to feel fancy for the evening

I once had lunch with a guy who was formerly a lobbyist for Mizzou. He said it was easy af to bribe state politicians. A lot of times he would just give them season tickets to Mizzou games.

Imagine being a shithead AND a Mizzou fan. Lost a bunch of lotterys there...

Rep. Donni Steele, R-Orion Township, similarly argued any spare money in the transportation budget should go to filling potholes and improving roads. “Regular people don’t care about electric bikes,” Steele said in a statement.

Wikipedia says:

[Orion] township hosts General Motors' Orion Assembly plant which produces small cars and EV pickup trucks.

Nope, no bias there whatsoever. Couldn't possibly be any. Not one iota. Nada.

Spare money going to reduce road use IS fixing potholes.

GOP is like the Israel lobby, constant melt downs over nothing burgers while committing crimes.

[-] HubertManne@kbin.social 5 points 5 months ago

whats funny is 3mil is low for transportation costs. any us of the bikes over cars will likely prevent more potholes than the money could fix.

It's a little sad that we need to actually say this, but:

Don't be an asshole or you will be permanently banned.

Respectful debate is totally OK, criticizing a product is fine, but being verbally abusive will not be tolerated.

Focus on discussing the idea, not attacking the person.
