This is only a problem if you think the purpose of the pier was to provide aid to Gaza. If you understand that everything the US military does is simply to provide public money to private interests, then this is a completely unremarkable event.

So you’re saying the front fell off because a wave hit it?

Not very typical

[-] zero_gravitas@aussie.zone 5 points 11 months ago

Is that unusual?

The US once again going through a dozen Suez Canal crises all at once, each one somehow more cartoonishly stupid than the last.

At this point I feel like if you want to radicalize someone just point them to a picture of that barely-welded-together mess and tell them their tax money went towards that to the tune of $320 million.

Also this is the Med, it’s not the Pacific or the Atlantic or like the Drake Passage. It’s the Mediterranean. It’s not exactly the roughest sea.

Boeing is a defense contractor …

[-] thebardingreen@lemmy.starlightkel.xyz 14 points 11 months ago

Damn it, idiots both in the US and Israel will see that as a sign from God.

[-] BigMacHole@lemm.ee 11 points 11 months ago

That was the cheaper alternative to just not selling bombs to Israel!

I see the army is battling against the sea. They'll have their entry in the history next to Caligula.

[-] deadbeef79000@lemmy.nz 5 points 10 months ago

Someone banked $320m.

Mission accomplished.
