I am not sure about upcoming events, but if you have a phone I would highly recommend Stellarium. It helps identify everything and you can change your view based on time and location.

I subscribe to Canton Becker's Moon Phase and Astronomy Calendar. Import into your calendar app to see Moon phase, planetary events, and meteor showers.
Turn Left at Orion is a great book to have alongside your scope! I believe it is broken down into seasons and what is viewable at those times.
