I’m currently using Memmy and it’s giving me Apollo vibes but I’m open to testing out other apps ^^

Using wefwef.app (it’s a web app) and it’s great. Sometimes I need remind myself that I’m not using Apollo.

[-] croobat@lemmy.world 8 points 1 year ago

Not gonna lie, I don't know what kind of dark magic wefwef pulled through, but it is the first web app I actually find as performant a a native app. It may not be for me (not a big fan of iphone aesthetics), but it is wonderful.

[-] PabloPcakes@vlemmy.net 6 points 1 year ago

Have to agree with this guy.

I recently swapped from IPhone to Android and thought I'd lost the slickness of Apollo forever.

Then Wefwef came along. It's nowhere near as smooth as the original Apollo app (at least via Android's Firefox browser), but it's got all the same vibes and makes me feel like I'm back in that same experience again.

Me: "I wonder if this Connect could be better than what I'm using"

Also me: Already using Connect

[-] aranym@lemmy.name 8 points 1 year ago

Connect is easily the most feature-complete app I've found for Android at the moment, loving it here too

My only complaint with Connect is that I'm using the dark theme, and so having a big white "refreshed" bar show up when I pull down my feed is jarring. I like jerboa's cute spinny wheel better.

But, if that's my biggest complaint ¯\(ツ)

Wefwef. It's incredibly polished and fast, especially for a webapp. It runs circles around new reddit performance wise, even with the servers being a raspi trampled by a horde of reddit refugees

Jerboa has been wonderful lately.

[-] spongebue@vlemmy.net 13 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

It could use some UI/UX work though. For example, if I want to go to a comment I replied to from my profile, rif had a handy button to show my comment with context. On Jerboa I need to go to my comment with a couple unintuitive taps, then the context of that comment with another button that doesn't really feel like it's in the right place.

I'll give it time to develop though

https://wefwef.app on iOS.

It's nearly EXACTLY like Apollo. Installed on my Home Screen and put where the Apollo icon was. (Apollo moved to a special folder to commemorate its memory.) You guys, I've got to be honest, I didn't think Lemmy was going to work out for me, but with wefwef, I don't feel like I'm missing a beat. Looking forward to Lemmy and the fediverse continuing to grow!

wefwef and Liftoff until Sync arrives.

[-] MrPear@lemmy.world 4 points 1 year ago

I keep switching apps all the time. Right now, I'm trying out Wefwef vs Thunder. They are very similar and I really like both. However, I think I slightly prefer Thunder. It feels a little bit more fluent to me, as it is a native app and it comes with a few more options, like being able to put the thumbnail on the right. I really like that because now I can open pictures without opening the comments. It also does a few things a little bit more sensible in my opinion, esspecially the back button. For instance, in Thunder the back button does what I expect it to do. But in Wefwef It is a bit buggy as it often goes back on the background, without closing a full screen image first. The theming also feels a but more at home on Android, while still being very similar.

Both are great options though and both have it's pro's and cons. I'm also trying out Pulse for Squabbles (so not Lemmy), which is also very neat and very similar. Makes the experiences a bit more consistent.

I'm also waiting for both Sync and Boost. I'm really curious in how both of those Ferdiverse versions turn out.

Wefwef but I'll be using sync once it's available

[-] blazarious@mylem.me 12 points 1 year ago
[-] reclipse@lemdro.id 12 points 1 year ago

I am currently using Jerboa.

[-] warmaster@lemmy.world 7 points 1 year ago

Started with it, tried every other app, came back to Jerboa.

[-] reclipse@lemdro.id 4 points 1 year ago

Liftoff is another app that is very functional. But I don't like the design and don't size of the comment section can't be changed for now.

[-] ieightpi@lemmy.world 6 points 1 year ago

Yeah so far I've been pretty happy with it. It's got a good UI

[-] drdiddlybadger@vlemmy.net 4 points 1 year ago

Yeee, it's pretty nice so far.

[-] raistlin@lemmy.sdf.org 4 points 1 year ago

Loving it as well, especially the appearance options.

[-] BrooklynRage@lemmy.world 10 points 1 year ago

Jerboa for now just waiting for boost to release on lemmy and then i will move.

[-] danprs@lemmy.world 4 points 1 year ago

I started with Jerboa but moved to Connect. Not as many issues as far as I can tell from the few days I've used both.

Same here, I miss Boost very much

[-] ChamrsDeluxe@lemmy.world 10 points 1 year ago

Liftoff. Simple yet elegant. I wish there was an app closer to baconreader. I used BR for 12 years, so I grew very accustomed to it.

WefWef app on Android. It's been pretty great and seeing it get updates every day with new improvements is nice.

I switched back to Android right before Apollo came out so I never had experience with that. This is supposedly just like it with fewer features. Even so, I can see why people loved Apollo so much if it resembled WefWef even slightly.

[-] GoosLife@lemmy.world 8 points 1 year ago

Jerboa for me, too. Mostly because it was the first thing that came up on the app store for me, and there isn't a Lemmy is Fun (...yet?). So I tried Jerboa and it's perfectly capable.

Just: Firefox.

[-] limit@lemmy.world 6 points 1 year ago

Connect for lemmy has a pretty nice clean look that can be customized to look a lot like RIF. Been enjoying it so far.

[-] dasprii@lemmy.froztbyte.dev 6 points 1 year ago

Liftoff and Thunder are my two favorites until Boost for Lemmy comes out.

[-] tsukii@lemmy.world 6 points 1 year ago

Trying out Connect after using Liftoff for a while. The experience is well so far!

Wefwef right now. I have been pretty pleased with it. Not sure who the the developer it but damn they’ve been rolling out updates daily. Sometimes multiple times a day. I don’t think the person is sleeping at this point.

[-] PancakedWaffle@lemmy.world 4 points 1 year ago

It’s open source and there’s a ton of open PRs. Lots of people want Apollo back.

Memmy. It even had a full release on the App store a couple of hours ago, so no need for testflight anymore. There are updates almost daily and it gets better and better.

Liftoff. I also tried Jerboa and Connect, but Liftoff just has the best look and feel. Having said that, as an old Boost for Reddit user I'll be switching to Boost for Lemmy as soon as it releases.

I am trying memmy and wefwef; so far I prefer wefwef as I find the memmy light theme to be too light - fonts are too washed out. Don’t like dark themes at all. I wish wefwef would show the current date and time though.

I have lurked on Reddit for many years, using Apollo, but never had an account. It seems that memmy does not let you browse communities without creating an account, so here I am. What I have seen so far of lemmy, it appears a lot friendlier than Reddit. This may induce me to actually contribute in future.

[-] xyzinferno@lemmy.world 5 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

I mostly navigate it from my laptop, but in the cases where I use my phone, Jerboa is still my go-to

Buggy at times, but I like the UI. Definitely open to new apps though. Connect didn't feel like my type, but I might try out

Boost once it's done, since a friend of mine recommended it for Reddit.

[-] Zerlyna@lemmy.world 4 points 1 year ago

I have Memmy, Liftoff, Mlem and wefwef. Like the interfaces of Mlem and wefwef the best so far. One app doesn’t have it all yet and if there’s a hang up with one I can try another!

Memmy, Mlem, wefwef are all inspired by Apollo. All are good. Liftoff! is another one I am testing, not crazy about the design but it’s still decent.
