There was a new release 0.27.1 yesterday which fixed the error for me. https://github.com/TeamNewPipe/NewPipe/releases/
Thank you, I actually uninstalled it and reinstalled it just now and it's working again!
Yo THANK YOU!
Be sure you have the direct repo added to FDroid's manual extra repos:

I just checked, updated, and it works.
Cool. I tried reinstalling several times, but not since yesterday, so I think I just missed the update.
It's working now, thanks.
Newpipe doesn't work for anybody right now.

A fix has already been set up, just maybe not fully released everywhere
Hey it looks like it's back up, I just uninstalled, reinstalled again and it's working now.
Okay, thanks.
Figured I'd check if I was missing something
They just released an update yesterday that fixed it. Dunno what changed, but when I checked it to see if there was any change, there was an update prompt.
0.27.1 fixed it for a hot second, but then it started generating ~~steps~~ errors again within the hour.
Oh bummer, it looks like it's still working for me five hours later.
What does that mean, generating steps? Is that what has been wrong with newpipe recently?
What does that mean, generating steps?
It means that my insistence on using OSS software means I'm using a phone keyboard with an autocorrect that badly sucks. Just slightly less shitty than not having autocorrect - they've reached a perfect balance of crappy, but not so crappy that it's unusable.
I've corrected it. I meant "errors".
I'm actually looking forward to a decent mobile-usable LLM service, so that OSS keyboards and the like will be able to integrate non-shitty predictive algorithms.
Check out FUTO Keyboard.
Oh. They have a non-voice one?
Oh, haha, I know that game.
That's actually why I converted to speech to text most of the time.
