I know this isn’t real, but fuck ‘em if they make the new member pick a film but then refuse to watch it. That’s just rude.
For sure, but they also could have told him they only watch films in English after his suggestion. I mean, it's all fake, but yea...
True, but picking Les Bonnes Femmes for a movie night when you have no clue about the vibe is a risk. Either ask what the expectations are or go with wide appeal.
If nobody in the group except the picker is enjoying it then it might be alright to bail. But could've done it in a much nicer way
Anon managed to pull off a double homicide of the movie night and his social life, all while being completely blind up his own arse. That shit's impressive.
There may be one or two contextual clues that reveal this is satirical.
Most Greentexts are, but it's often more fun to joke as though it were not
Exactly, but also relatable. Mistaking the group's poor taste in film for a MST3K-style riff-a-thon is something I would have done.
Fake or not, most people have an experience (or in my case, 20 years of experiences) just like this in their lives; the ones that stop you from falling asleep at night years later.
We are human. We are fallible. No one remembers, other than you, and if they do they don't think about it nearly as much as you do.
You don't need to self-flagellate about a mistake years ago, for the rest of your life. If anything, use it as a marker for how much you have progressed and learned since then. You wouldn't make that mistake again, would you? It's a lesson, not an albatross.
You don’t need to self-flagellate about a mistake years ago, for the rest of your life.
Cool, I'll just tell my brain about that.
It's also a lesson for if you're the other people in the room.
Someone kindly pulling OP to one side afterwards and talking about what happened, and why they might have misunderstood, might have saved them from the social isolation, rather than just ending up excluded.
Don't worry, I'll remember your mistakes for you.
Thank you
If the greentext is to be believed, I think OP made a second mistake: insulting the audience instead of the bad movie. In fact, the only evidence that this is a "bad" movie night is OP's own opinion. Maybe this was supposed to be a generic popcorn movie night for the average filmgoer, in which case OP's comments might have been interpreted as rude by the folks who enjoyed F&F.
After seeing his movie pick I was really curious to know why the hell they thought it would make for a good pick, but then I read on lmao
Classic mistake. They picked a cinema when they had to pick a flick or joint.
He just should have picked Fight Club. It appeals to so many demographics in such weird ways.
The most infuriating part of this (fake) post is that they compared vin diesel movies to Mission Impossible. Mission Impossible is a good action series! Tom Cruise may be nuts but the man is an incredible actor.
Yeah, except it's still mission impossible and you forget what happened as soon as it ends. Shit you are probably relieved it ended because the last 45 minutes drag on and you oe p hoping it ends so you can get on with life.
I've seen exactly one MI movie and most of it just felt like Tom cruise masturbating over how cool his character is.
His character is cool though lol
It's not high cinema but they're fun, directed/shot well, and have cool stunts. It's a far cry from the Fast and Furious franchise which ARE fun but pretty bad overall - or at least the first couple movies are. I haven't seen the new ones but I heard most of them are pretty awful
That's especially why it feels so masturbatory. His character is exactly as cool as cruise wishes he was.
Aside from that, it was a pretty good movie. And credit to that insane bastard for doing his own stunts.
Absolutely nuts.
