what? no more master cheeks?!

[-] ByteOnBikes@slrpnk.net 7 points 3 months ago

Ah I remember when Mister Cheeks had sex with that prisoner of war. Captivating storytelling.

And the canon version of him is one of gaming's biggest queer icons. Link is trans, Samus is gay, and Chief is ace.

I’m super confused how the boy of legend is considered trans, is it just because he has effeminate features?

[-] MindTraveller@lemmy.ca -2 points 3 months ago

So effeminate that they can pass as a woman whenever they want. And their girlfriend has a male alter ego. Let's face it, they're both genderfluid.

[-] prettybunnys@sh.itjust.works 5 points 3 months ago

Kinda feels like a stretch when they disguised their gender rather than fluidly being both, and link is literally the boy of legend but if it makes you happy then by all means

She's a boy at least some of the time

… when is Zelda a boy?

She disguises her appearance as sheik, she is not a boy though. She disguises her gender to be someone else but she is not living as a boy/man.

Robinhood and his merry men also disguised themselves as women, it does not make them trans.

Link is literally a boy as canon. He is the boy of legend.

I have no problems with representation and I advocate for more of it for everyone but it’s a stretch my dude.

Link is a boy at least some of the time. And her boyfriend Zelda is a girl at least some of the time.

[-] prettybunnys@sh.itjust.works 4 points 3 months ago

Zelda is always a girl. She is never prince Zelda.

Link is always the boy of legend.

This is a stupid hill to die on.

I felt like the second season was an improvement on the first, but this honestly doesn't surprise me.

[-] pelletbucket@lemm.ee 3 points 3 months ago

I enjoyed it but I don't mind this.

But I thought Halo needed a few more seasons to build its world and then get good?

I really hope this gets picked up elsewhere.

[-] ByteOnBikes@slrpnk.net 10 points 3 months ago

God no.

I hope it gets wiped and start over with competent show runners who actually play the games and understand them. There's a reason the Last of Us and Fallout TV series are highly acclaimed.

100% and I watched the entirety of season 1 trying to give it a fair shake. But it's just too obvious it was supposed to be "its own thing". Which, maybe with a bit better on the story side, it would have been a fairly decent original IP. Nothing ground breaking or spectacular, but decent.

[-] acosmichippo@lemmy.world 2 points 3 months ago

Agreed, I also watched season 1 and was willing to watch an original take on halo, but it was just fucking terrible.

[-] acosmichippo@lemmy.world 1 points 3 months ago

I'm not really sure I agree, and I think Fallout is a good case in point. They did nail the general vibe with the dark humor, easter eggs, etc, but it was pretty much a 100% original story that had very little to do with any of the games.

I think the same could have been done with Halo, except the writing and execution of the original story were fucking awful. Faithfulness to the games was never going to help it anyway.

[-] MindTraveller@lemmy.ca 5 points 3 months ago

If you want to make an original story that doesn't have much to do with the games, you don't make the main character the Master Chief.

[-] acosmichippo@lemmy.world 1 points 3 months ago

agreed. like I said, the execution was awful.
