I have way to many dungeons and side quests left to run in the next two weeks.

Don’t worry! Traditionally, Diablo seasons require you to make an entirely new character to participate. Season progress is likely going to be separate from the main realm.

There is an exception. Alters and regions will remain explored, along with the associated renown. So you can get those done now.

[-] mattclassic@lemmy.world 5 points 1 year ago

Oh didn’t realize this. That’s nice.

[-] qooqie@lemmy.world 5 points 1 year ago

Yeah super nice I was groaning thinking about doing that all over again soon

[-] Pap3r@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

Sorry if this is a dumb question but does that mean you’ll have access to any waypoints you’ve unlocked on your eternal characters or that you’ll also have the as much map as you’ve revealed as well?

[-] deedasmi@lemmy.timdn.com 4 points 1 year ago

You’ll see the major city waypoints, but none of them will be active. Minor city waypoints will not be discovered at all.

I thought most, if not everything, was getting reset. I believe you'd need to get all the waypoints again.

Not 100% wrong, afaik "map revealed" does not imply that you get the waypoints for free

[-] Molecular0079@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

If I had to get all the waypoints again, I would have stopped playing the game LOL

[-] NightSicarius@aussie.zone 2 points 1 year ago

I've done it on alt characters. Only takes about an hour running around on the horse to get all the waypoints. Intersperse this with smashing through the strongholds and it's not too dull.

They've made it so map reveal and altars will carry over into seasons. Whether that includes waypoints isn't clear, but I suspect we'll need to unlock them again.

I'm glad they're bringing back Seasons Journey rewards and not everything has transitioned to the battle pass. I enjoyed completing the Journey activities in D3, but no battle pass has ever made me feel excited to play a game. They just feel like work.

I guess this is why there is no paragon board reset button. They already implemented it but are waiting for the season to start. The Scroll of Amnesia... So I no longer have to click every node to reset my paragon.

[-] PlushySD@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago

Ahh, that's why when they said they gonna fix any class it'd be on 2nd season. Because all of their focus is on SS1 now. Which makes sense as it'll be on in 2 weeks.

[-] CaptManiac@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

I haven't done a D3 season in many years. I remember that at least at one point you could earn / find a pet you could keep from then on for all your characters. You think they'll do something like this again?

[-] IBNobody@lemmy.world -2 points 1 year ago

To participate in Seasons, a new character must be made on the Seasonal Realm. You do not need to purchase a Battle Pass or any add-ons to play the Seasonal content, but you must have completed the campaign on either the Eternal or Seasonal Realm with at least one character.

This makes no sense.

How am I supposed to clear the campaign on the seasonal realm if I first need to clear the campaign on the main realm? Why did they word it like this?

[-] RealHumanBeann@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago

You only need to complete the campaign once, on any realm with any character.

[-] IBNobody@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

I know, but why would they even mention completing the campaign on the seasonal realm if you can't access the seasonal realm? Why not just leave it as "complete the campaign on the eternal realm"?

[-] NightSicarius@aussie.zone 8 points 1 year ago

You can start a seasonal character without completing any campaign. What you can't access is the seasonal content. This starts after you complete the campaign - so you won't see malignant creatures or the quest line or gems or whatever until you've completed the campaign.

[-] illi@lemm.ee 1 points 1 year ago

Which is why it boggles my mind they can't enable it for the Eternal realm. It is practically already set up to worl that way!

  1. because it is accurate to how things actually work

  2. Because not everybody has been obsessively playing this game since launch. Some might come back to the game after dropping it 1/4th of the way through the campaign. Some have just bought the game now. They will want to know that they can just start a seasonal character and complete the campaign on it.
