Large-scale photonic chiplet Taichi empowers 160-TOPS/W artificial general intelligence
Think this is about the first gen chip.
oh they have a second gen now?
the researchers announced that the original Taichi chip had exceeded the energy efficiency of NVIDIA’s H100 GPU by over a thousand times, as reported by South Morning China Post (SCMP).
Now, the Taichi-II chip has further elevated this benchmark, showcasing superior performance across various scenarios.
The science.org link seems to be about 'the original' chip.
yeah I'm curious what the new version will be able to do.
But at what cost?
Hits the right buzzwords!
If that's true we have 2 completely different approaches to computing now, light vs quantum computing. I'm a bit sceptical of everything that comes out of china tho
