Crabby's Journey To Decarbonize

Just did another trial run with my ebike yesterday, this time to a hypermarket on the way to my workplace. The ride is mostly residential area and backroad, gone through a cemetery and then a minor part on road with little to no road shoulder, so it's a safe-ish route i can come out with, 18km one way. It's a pleasant ride as well, a lot of driver did went out of their way of waiting for me to pass before coming out from the junction, but then again, riding on a main road without road shoulder is still unnerving as heck, with skill or not.

This route also went through a cemetery with territorial doggos, got chased when going and back this trip, and have to point and yell at the dog to partially pacify it, and ngl, it does makes me rethink this route, especially riding back home from work means i'm gonna go through this area in pitch black with roaming pack of dogs, even though the stretch of road is only about 280m of road and safe from car and decrease the travel distance by a 1.5km. Yikes.

It's also quite hot despite all the wind, start riding back home from the market at 6:15pm and reached by 7:15pm, still get very sweaty. I guess that's the weather we get for being in equator, and this is why cycling aren't the mode of transport for most.

Despite that, i still think it might worth it in the long run for both health and the climate, can't rely on electric car considering there's no plan to quickly decarbonise the electric generation, and car is just a damn expensive piece of equipment to maintain and finance.

Salute you for your commitment. I think being outside of Klang valley helps la, since there are not as many cars. I don't dream of doing this here, it's simply too risky.

I think in KV right, you can use mixed mode commute if both your home and workplace is pretty close to a train station, so you can just ride an e-scooter as the last mile. Also in KV there's a few place with bike lane, but really depend on the route lah so it's harder to plan in KV, too many highway.
