Google Gemini and assistant (lemmy.world)

I tried switching to Gemini on my Samsung phone. Then I found out the Gemini can't open apps on my Android phone. This is kind of a deal breaker because it doesn't actually replace assistant. And it looks like Google is about to replace assistant with Gemini since it laid off most of his assistant workers. I don't see how this helps.

I'm so glad I don't use any 'features' in on my phone, debloat and disable as much as I possibly can. I'll do the work to get things done my way, I don't need Google telling me how to do things.

I like some of those features because I have fat fingers and I have a hard time typing. It's easier to say hey Google make an appointment on September 25th for the doctor at 3:00 p.m. or hey Google call Mom.
