Arch Linux. I also dual boot Windows 10 but 99% of my uptime is on Arch.

I have always been an avid Mac user, so currently Ventura. That said, I did build a frankenbox when I wasn’t sure what would happen with gaming on my Mac (I don’t have major requirements, quite content with my little corner of MMORPG and the occasion Steam games), and that has Windows 11.

I have worked cross-platform for many years, and frankly I liked the version of Windows where the window art was translucent? Was that Windows 7? I liked that. I really did not like when Microsoft made their OS look like their phone (and yes I am cranky Apple made their desktop OS look similar to their phone).

I have not dabbled in Linux, but that is mostly because I am that most dangerous of users: the one who has partial knowledge and too much curiosity. I’m the person who thought you could upgrade Windows by simply replacing the io subsystem on a desktop with the one from more recent version on a laptop (back in that day, you could take the new system folder off a Mac and put it on a Mac with an oiler version and it would upgrade). It took 2 weeks to rebuild that PC, the entire machine needed to be wiped clean, we had to dig up the install floppies to get the CD to work to be able to use the system CDs to install a fresh copy of the OS. I am a menace to technology. ;-)

Windows 11 on my main Desktop, mainly because anti cheat. Debian on my Raspberry Pi. And SteamOS obviously on my Steam Deck.

Opensuse Leap. No worries.

My main system is running Windows 10

It works great for everything I need and as long as I don't enable the TPM in my motherboard settings I don't have to worry about it upgrading itself to Windows 11. Unlike when my system upgraded itself from 8.1 to 10. That was a hard one due to driver issues with my Bluetooth card at the time.

Grub roulette between Ubuntu studio 23 something, nixos, and ancient Ubuntu studio

[-] solstice@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

I used to have strong opinions about operating systems. Installed various Linux builds and boot loaders to run different OS's. Etc

Now I use windows. I can't even tell you what version without looking. 10 I guess? Windows finally "just works" and I haven't had a BSOD in forever so I really don't care.

Windows 11 on my gaming rig, macOS for all other computing tasks. If I could reliably game on a Mac with good quality, I would. I did some Linux gaming for awhile and was really glad that it had come a long way, but I like not having to think about any kind of technical troubleshooting (usually) when gaming on Windows. And the overall usability of a unix OS is hard to beat.

Fedora kinoite/silverblue

[-] popemichael@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

Windows 11 is my newest "main" computer. I also just got a nice Win 11 laptop for my new business.

Though my "working" IT laptop boots with both Windows 10 and Ubuntu.

[-] kavin@feddit.rocks 2 points 1 year ago

EndeavourOS, it's based on Arch Linux.

Alpine Linux on most of my servers, if want something else for some reason Ubuntu.

[-] fraxix@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

Windows 11 on my desktop to game on and Ubuntu (Prefer Linux Mint though) on my laptop as a self-hosted server.

[-] Carter@feddit.uk 2 points 1 year ago

Windows 10 unfortunately. Will go back to Linux some day but I can't be bothered at the moment.

[-] raubarno@lemmy.ml 2 points 1 year ago

I use TUXEDO OS 2 on my new Tuxedo Infinitybook S15. I can tell it's quite good!

[-] amiusingarch@lemm.ee 2 points 1 year ago

Currently I'm dual booting, mainly Arch for the most part and Windows 10 for my games.

I can't use proton for most of my games since all of them are latency sensitive (rhythm games).

[-] wibo@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

Windows 11 for my gaming and work laptops.

Ubuntu for everything else.

Arch Linux

Everything else just sucks (haven't tried LFS, NixOS and Gentoo. But for sure I kinda hate Debian and Fedora based distros as they kinda suck and I mostly hate Microsoft based Operating Systems as they suck the most)

change my mind.

[-] ReakDuck@lemmy.ml 2 points 1 year ago

There are distros that I like but dont use because of the lack of convinience like Void Linux which is a great distro but doesn't have AUR.

Arch & Windows 10 on my desktop, OpenSuse Tumbleweed on the laptop.

[-] Mothra@mander.xyz 2 points 1 year ago

Windows 11 unfortunately. I haven't found a suitable way to jump to Linux.

Windows 10 at home desktop, windows 11 laptop and work desktop. Frankly I'd switch to Linux but lots of stuff didn't work on it last I checked a year ago. Wayland seems to be messing with Nvidia and kde. Last Fedora release bricked on boot of the live usb. One day Linux will be ready. I like it on my steam deck and phone. It's great for embedded systems with limited hardware differences and a focused company supporting it's development. FOSS software suites really needs an organization behind it to be successful.

[-] Yuutzyu@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

Fedora 38 and Windows 10 on dual boot, though I mostly just use Fedora.

[-] EggsCurrently@lemmy.ml 2 points 1 year ago

Windows 10 Pro on my main desktop but I do have an old laptop now running Zorin OS Lite which I use mostly when I'm on vacation or taking a long train.

[-] Girtablulu@feddit.de 2 points 1 year ago

Solus Plasma, nothing really gives me such a home. I tried others but nope

[-] rozno@roznotech.xyz 2 points 1 year ago

Windows 10 on my main (gaming) PC (honestly I would probably upgrade to 11 by now if I didn't need to do a BIOS update), and Ubuntu on my computer in the living room. I would try a different distro, but honestly whenever I need a guide to do something on Linux they're always written with Ubuntu and it's default commands and packages in mind so it's just easier to work with

Windows 11 Pro with WSL2 Ubuntu

PowerShell is my preferred terminal shell on any OS and I've never found a Linux desktop I get along with (don't get me started on the bloated Fisher Price playcenter that is MacOS), so Windows 11 with Ubuntu in WSL is perfect for me.
