Iran did the same a few years ago (I think after the US/Israel busted their centrifuges?) which is probably going great for them right now.
Not really, the US targeted the centrifuge software with a virus that caused them to self destruct. Iran still buys the centrifuges but reprograms them using a homemade software instead of using the default manufacturers software.
