Artillery shells sold by Indian arms makers have been diverted by European customers to Ukraine and New Delhi has not intervened to stop the trade despite protests from Moscow, according to 11 Indian and European government and defence industry officials, as well as a Reuters analysis of commercially available customs data.

The transfer of munitions to support Ukraine's defence against Russia has occurred for more than a year, according to the sources and the customs data. Indian arms export regulations limit the use of weaponry to the declared purchaser, who risks future sales being terminated if unauthorised transfers occur.

The Kremlin has raised the issue on at least two occasions, including during a July meeting between Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and his Indian counterpart, three Indian officials said.

Yeah India buying Russias oil is far more harmful compared to some artillery shells.

India is buying Russian oil at Europes ire, this seems only fair then.

There might be public displeasure about it, but I think behind the scenes India buying Russia oil is expected and at least to some degree accepted (or possibly even wanted).

The bigger thing is Russia not generating profits from those sales, which I am speculating is not the case at the prices India is buying at. The upside of Russian oil still being available to the world market is keeping the prices lower, something Europe is very much interested in.

Russia is still profiting handsomely from oil sales, in large part due to India buying so much of it.

Thanks for the link. That is certainly a frustrating development, since they had to sell it for a much steeper discount before as the article mentions.

Russia mistook India’s desire to buy oil as an implicit supportive relationship. India is just being opportunistic and attempting to buy things for cheap and sell products where they can.

India is doing what India has been doing since the early cold war: playing rival power blocks off against each other to try and get the best outcomes for themselves.

I don't know why, but the clause, "according to 11 Indian and European government and defence industry officials..." seems very funny to me. like, why eleven?
