Are you painting on canvas?

Yeah :/ I first started on normal drawing paper, but learned that the paper falls apart with with water. I then tried this canvas, but it wasn't optimal either. When I got home, I saw on YT that there's actual water color paper for this, so I ordered some last night.

Friend, I would highly recommend watercolour paper! I'm glad you ordered some- it's going to be night and day from your previous attempts. Canvas is best for acrylic or oil. You could get away with gouache on canvas board but not with watercolour effects, gotta keep the paint a little thicker.

You're having a terrible time because of your surface. Paper makes the biggest difference in my experience, glad you're getting some proper paper. When you want to upgrade again, look into cotton paper- the difference is night and day.
