You’re somehow making this sound more fun than it should be.

Well when's the last time you tried it? It's quite the sensation

You got a laugh outta me, but damn, maybe you should go to therapy Gary.

I've been trying to find it but struggling. It was a tweet, originally in another language, that someone translated to English and posted a screenshot of (to R*ddit I think) which said (paraphrasing) "Biden looks like he crapped his pants on accident, and Bibi looks like he crapped his pants on purpose" and it was in response to an article featuring this photo

no you're good, on accident is right

for mistake, though, it would be by mistake

[-] Doxanarchy@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago

It should be "by accident", "on accident" is incorrect.

[-] Hawke@lemmy.world 8 points 1 day ago

“On accident” is not right. “By mistake”, “by accident”, opposite of “on purpose”

[-] Mr_Blott@feddit.uk 3 points 1 day ago

"On accident" can't be right because it makes me want to chop off all your fingers so you can never type again

[-] HyonoKo@lemmy.ml 7 points 1 day ago

I felt the same before I moved to a foreign country and didn’t have the privilege anymore of speaking perfectly without any effort. Now I have become more tolerant and it makes me feel good.

[-] Mr_Blott@feddit.uk 5 points 1 day ago

I did exactly the same thing, and it's difficult. Particularly at an older age!

But it's not learners that make mistakes like saying "on accident", it's mostly native speakers. And then they pass on their mistakes to non native speakers

It's perfectly fine to call them out on it.

[-] HyonoKo@lemmy.ml 1 points 1 day ago

Agree, I didn’t see it from that perspective.

So long as you're not doing the spelling and grammar for the advertising
