"Colonoids," that's novel. Seems like there's some overlap and cross-pollination with right-wing (particularly incel) rhetoric, huh? Still, nice to see frauddogg moving beyond "peckerwood" and "cracker." Variety is the spice of life.

Slurs are ok as long as they’re on the approved slurs list

[-] goat@sh.itjust.works 1 points 58 minutes ago

You won't ever find any 'approved' slurs here.

If it looks like a duck... These people are not leftists in any fashion whatsoever.

Funny, because not too long ago I saw a bunch of HBs and MLs going on about how "the libs can't go more than one comment chain without wishing death and torture on anyone not voting like them"

Now who else do I know of where every accusation is a confession... Or projection, if you will.

Seems like a lot of them like to Gaslight, Obstruct AND Project.

Hexbear users very literally threatening to kill me is one (just one) of the reasons I hate that instance. The .ml instances aren't much better.

I've always felt this way about tankies and the horseshoe theory in general. Conservatism spawned from the "Bourgeoise"; all the religious lords and landowners who profited from, and supported, monarchs and authoritarian rule. Tankie belief systems align with that "bourgeoise" perfectly.

The concept of authoritarian socialism is a contradiction. Without democracy, freedom of thought, and freedom of person — from fear of retribution for wrongthink — the workers never had a say; never "seized" control of anything. Tankies are nothing more than a continuation of the authoritarian rule that came before them. Both Hitler and Trump have said they represent the wprking class. Saying you represent the working class is meaningless. You need to prove it with your actions.

Ultimately tankies are closer to the Tsars, Kings, and colonialism they replaced, than they are to the concept of freedom and equality for the working class. They just want to be the oppressor, and probably believe that communism is the best chance they have to ever be in a position to fulfil that role.

I agree, though I think they latch onto communism as a sign of virtue signalling.

Sprinkle in a healthy dose of AstroTurf and you get a nice little cult growing.

So, one of the more conservative Hexbear user then?

Thank you for your comment there !

What is hexbear? I have heard many people taking about it, but sure why users from that instance are aggressive/rude

[-] fuckingkangaroos@lemm.ee 10 points 20 hours ago

I have to disagree with users saying it's just a bunch of communists and rich college kids.

I think the core of that instance is a state-funded disinformation effort. Sure, there are real people on there, especially vegans, leftists extremists, queer people, Arabic people, because they're the target of their propaganda.

A role-playing instance where disaffected middle-class American boys act as third-world revolutionaries from the mid-1980s.

Oh and they like to communicate by image reactions because that's how Twitch raised them.

[-] goat@sh.itjust.works 12 points 1 day ago

Tankies are actually overwhelmingly high-class. Usually college kids

[-] Shiggles@sh.itjust.works 16 points 1 day ago

I’d still put most college kids into middle class, though I’m sure there’s a spread.

[-] goat@sh.itjust.works 12 points 1 day ago

Oh, these are rich college kids. Mummy and daddy own a mansion kind of rich college kid.

I think it's guilt that makes them so crazy.

[-] goat@sh.itjust.works 10 points 1 day ago

it's basically reddit but edgy by rich college kid standards

What is a Tankie?

Alternatively, a detailed blog post about Tankies.

(caution of biased source)

Basic Rules:

Sh.itjust.works Instance rules apply! If you are from other instances, please be mindful of the rules. — Basically, don't be a dick.

Hate-Speech — You should be familiar with this one already; practically all instances have the same rules on hate speech.

Apologia(Using the Modern terminology for Apologia) No Defending, Denying, Justifying, Bolstering, or Differentiating authoritarian acts or endeavours, whether be a Pro-CCP viewpoint, Stalinism, Islamic Terrorism or any variation of Tankie Ideology.

Revisionism — No downplaying or denying atrocities past and present. Calling Tankies shills, foreign/federal agents, or bots also falls under this rule. Extremists exist. They are real. Do not call them shills or fake users as it handwaves their extremism.

Tankies can explain their views but may be criticised or attacked for them. Any slight infraction on the rules above will immediately earn a warning and possibly a ban.

Off-topic Discussion — Do not discuss unrelated topics to the point of derailing the thread. Stay focused on the direct content of the post as opposed to arguing.

You'll be warned if you're violating the instance and community rules. Continuing poor behaviour after being warned will result in a ban or removal of your comments. Bans typically only last 24 hours, but each subsequent infraction will double the amount. Depending on the content, the ban time may be increased. You may request an unban at any time.
