Please let them be directional, pointed down, lower output and on light waves easily filtered out for night sky viewing. Light pollution is getting worse and worse for no real benefit.

Lampposts will remain in place in many locations where they are necessary, such as in cities where CCTV cameras rely on good lighting.

The lamp is under the treetop, not over it or on it's middle. So the trees won't demand extra maintenance to avoid shading the lamp. This way you can plant trees all along the pathway, and as a bonus they will help containing the remaining light pollution from the already small reflection from the pavement.
