My monolingual Japanese best friend literally refuses to watch the Simpsons Japanese dub.

Yes and I'll give you an example:

The Japanese dub for King of the Hill had Boomhauer speaking perfect Japanese. The ability to understand Boomhauer all the time undermines most of the gags written for the character. It makes no sense.

How did the dubbers get away with this?!
