Until now !superbowl@lemmy.world has been my source of uplifting content of last resort. Sadly I have woken up to the realization that owl pictures might not be enough going forwards. Appreciate the thread.
It was hard to post today, but I told myself that I still wanted to try to give you guys what I could, so I put up some of the best I had in my stash of posts.
I try to keep politics out of it, but as I focus on habitat preservation and animal protections, it's hard to stay totally out of it.
I do have stuff ready to start Owl of the Year. I was going to do a preliminary round this week, but I'm going to let people deal with their emotions for a couple days, I think.
To anyone feeling nervous by the results, know I care about of all you guys, and most of the people I love are potentially affected as well. Anyone who cares about nature is always welcome to come and enjoy the owls with me.
Thanks, and continue being awesome. And superb!
Even the smallest owls have to stay fierce!
Not to self promote my own community too much, but !astrophotography@lemmy.world if you wanna see amateur photos of space

Communities where there is an actual community interested in a topic and people are posting mostly OC.
I think !birding@lemmy.world is my favorite community. It is positive, mostly OC, somewhat active and about a topic i am also interested in.
Thanks for sharing!

I like !birding@lemmy.world way better, much healthier community.
Thx!
You probably have to find out what your hobbies and interests are and search / ask accordingly. And if you miss something, be the change you want to see and create new communities.
I personally avoid politics as much as possible, and found some great communities. Most prominently !lemmyshitpost@lemmy.world, !memes@lemmy.ml and !196@lemmy.blahaj.zone.
Edit: Oh. This wasn't a question you asked, but rather a list of these communities, my bad. My advice still stands though.
Feel free to link them, it makes it easier for other people to join!
And indeed, people should search for their interests, but discoverability can be an issue, which is why we have this community and this kind of posts

Hello
Thank you for your posts, FYI !Links can be used by everyone: !climatehope@lemmy.world
Edit: also, with the amount of communities on the same subject, wouldn't it make sense to gather people on one or two rather than ten?
Edit2: kbin.social has been down/unstable for a while now
Sure, but that's not my decision to make. The ask was for other communities that are not politics focused. If people want to gather in one of those over another, that's their choice not mine. I just listed some I'm aware of, that's all.
New Communities
A place to post new communities all over Lemmy for discovery and promotion.
Rules
The rules for behavior are a straight carry over of Mastodon.World's rules. You can click the link but we've reposted them here in brief, as a guideline. We will continue to use the Mastodon.World rules as the master list. Over all, be nice to each other and remember this isn't a community built around debate. For the rules about formatting your posts, scroll down to number 2.
1. Follow the rules of Mastodon.world, which can be found here.
A. Provide an inclusive and supportive environment. This means if it isn't rulebreaking and we can't be supportive to them then we probably shouldn't engage.
B. No illegal content.
C. Use content warnings where appropriate. This means mark your submissions NSFW if need be.
D. No uncivil behavior. This includes, but is not limited to: Name Calling; Bullying; Trolling; Disruptive Commenting; or Personal Criticisms.
E. No Harrassment. As an example in relation to Transgender people this includes, deadnaming, misgendering, and promotion of conversion therapy. Similarly Misogyny, Misandry, and Racism are also banned here.
2. Include a community title and description in your post title. - A following example of this would be New Communities - A place to post new communities all over Lemmy for discovery and promotion.
3. Follow the formatting. - The formatting as included below is important for people getting universal links across Lemmy as easily as possible.
Formatting
Please include this following format in your post:
[link text](/c/community@instance.com)
This provides a link that should work across instances, but in some cases it won't
You should also include either:
or instance.com/c/community
FAQ:
Q: Why do I get a 404?
A: At least one user in an instance needs to search for a community before it gets fetched. Searching for the community will bring it into the instance and it will fetch a few of the most recent posts without comments. If a user is subscribed to a community, then all of the future posts and interactions are now in-sync.
Q: When I try to create a post, the circle just spins forever. Why is that?
A: This is a current known issue with large communities. Sometimes it does get posted, but just continues spinning, but sometimes it doesn't get posted and continues spinning. If it doesn't actually get posted, the best thing to do is try later. However, only some people seem to be having this problem at the moment.
