The Reds have majority control of Senate and the Supreme Court. Trump is the least of America's problems. If they win the House too there will be no checks as it is so unbalanced.

They already had 9 more seats than dems and net flipped is 4 towards Republicans, think its pretty safe to guess which party will have a majority. Just a matter of how much.

[-] errer@lemmy.world 2 points 6 days ago

It’s looking to be about a 7 seat majority. Doubt too many other seats will deviate from the current counts.

Similarly to how we have it here in Hungary :(

[-] modifier@lemmy.ca 28 points 6 days ago

I say this knowing many will reflexively disagree, but Vance is much much more dangerous.

[-] gmtom@lemmy.world 3 points 5 days ago

My unfounded conspiracy theory is that the republican handlers will have trump killed either before his term starts or short afterwards so they can have a much more controlable and competent Vance in charge to better push their agenda. And they will make it look like a Demkcrat did it as well so they fan the civil war flame even more innthe process.

Trump wants to punish his "enemies."

Vance wants to usher in the technocracy. And not, like, the sci-fi dystopia one where actual engineers and scientists run things but get a bit eugenics-y.

yeah but then you'd be stuck with couch-fucker!

[-] A_Union_of_Kobolds@lemmy.world 24 points 6 days ago

Yeah there's no way out of this short of actual revolution.

[-] Xtallll@lemmy.blahaj.zone 4 points 6 days ago

I have vague hope for faithless electors, it didn't work last time but maybe this time.

[-] errer@lemmy.world 1 points 6 days ago

Those spineless fucks won’t do shit.

[-] PhrygianFudge@lemmy.dbzer0.com 13 points 6 days ago

Yeah, but it would make my day, at least. Also, I think he would have less support than Trump.

[-] paddirn@lemmy.world 16 points 6 days ago

His own father lived til he was 93, so we may be waiting awhile, though Trump doesn’t exercise and eats like shit, so who knows.

[-] PhrygianFudge@lemmy.dbzer0.com 11 points 6 days ago

Every day he lives is another day full of hope that he dies soon. I'm a "glass still has a few drops" sort of guy.

If you have the money, medical science has come a huge way. Rich people can live super unhealthy and still be active and mobile well into old age. Sure the brain goes, but with Trump that station was passed long ago.

[-] adarza@lemmy.ca 6 points 6 days ago

all the salt and preservatives in his diet, he'll live to 115.

Dick Cheney is 83. McConnell is 83. Kissinger was 100.

Evil old fucks are afraid of death for obvious reasons. They aim to live forever.

Does the vice-president-elect get inaugurated as president if the president-elect dies before that day?

Read section 3: https://constitution.congress.gov/constitution/amendment-20/

short answer: yes

[-] Kazumara@discuss.tchncs.de 3 points 6 days ago

Thanks! I appreciate the link. I'm not that familiar with your constitution and its amendments

[-] PhrygianFudge@lemmy.dbzer0.com 3 points 6 days ago

I'm not American either lol

Apart from the very close one, there was also the guy hiding around Trump's golf club with a gun.

[-] NocturnalMorning@lemmy.world 9 points 6 days ago

That's was the time traveler one. The first one was just a disgruntled person. Easy to confused the two.

[-] PhrygianFudge@lemmy.dbzer0.com 3 points 6 days ago

Maybe you're right and the second one is yet to make his attempt and fail.

[-] Xtallll@lemmy.blahaj.zone 7 points 6 days ago

Strangely, the second one didn't actually break any Florida laws.

[-] Archer@lemmy.world 1 points 5 days ago

Trespassing? Probably something Secret Service-y about a perimeter too if I had to guess
