Another big topic that should be concerning to vegans is the usage of dog noses in controller joysticks, why is everyone silent against the evil g*ming corporations

[-] Sunshine@lemmy.ca 6 points 4 days ago

Absolutely horrendous! I just tossed out all my controllers! This is where the puppy mills send the unsought dogs.

[-] HobbitFoot@thelemmy.club 1 points 3 days ago

It depends when vegans attack on ten-speed bikes.

[-] Vanth@reddthat.com 13 points 4 days ago

So 2015. What's next? Crossfitters are obnoxious?

[-] Sunshine@lemmy.ca 0 points 4 days ago* (last edited 4 days ago)

This comment falls under the “vegans are the second most hated group in America” statistic but that’s thanks to big animal agriculture propaganda. Not very thoughtful from a reddthat.com user.

You make vegans look bad m8, unless you are literally trolling then gj I guess

[-] Schlemmy@lemmy.ml 4 points 3 days ago

You're Lemmy is different from mine, so it seems. I have no idea what you're talking about.

[-] Sunshine@lemmy.ca 1 points 3 days ago

It was just a few scuffles with Lemmy.world and Lemmy.dbzer0.com

[-] jet@hackertalks.com 6 points 3 days ago

What drama?

There are many healthy lifestyles, and if someone decides to go full vegan that doesn't interfere with anyone else.....

[-] toiletobserver@lemmy.world 0 points 3 days ago

Unless they try to force their beliefs on others, then they're just another religion

[-] Sunshine@lemmy.ca 0 points 3 days ago

force their beliefs on others

Carnism is forcing animals to be exploited and murdered.

[-] SkyezOpen@lemmy.world 0 points 3 days ago

I enjoy kicking vegans in the shin, then spraying beef stock into their mouths with a squirt gun.

[-] undefined@lemmy.hogru.ch -1 points 3 days ago

Except the people not following those “beliefs” are literally killing animals in some of the most grotesque ways, for literally no reason other than “bacon tho.”

Bioavailability of nutrition

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D6Qea59IrA0 this is a video from a medical perspective on the global meat conspiracy, especially when talking about recommended diets.

I'm all for independence, everybody can eat how they like, when you start restricting options for people, you are now responsible for their health outcomes. And that is very very complicated.

[-] Sunshine@lemmy.ca 2 points 3 days ago

Eating a whole food plant-based diet is not complicated at all as you just need to eat a variety of foods and supplement b12 and vitamin d.

Plant-based diets are full of fruits, vegetables and legumes, with little or no meat or other animal products. In research studies, vegans, people who don't eat any animal products, including fish, dairy or eggs, appeared to have the lowest rates of cancer of any diet.

Mayo Clinic

It is the position of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics that appropriately planned vegetarian, including vegan, diets are healthful, nutritionally adequate, and may provide health benefits for the prevention and treatment of certain diseases. These diets are appropriate for all stages of the life cycle, including pregnancy, lactation, infancy, childhood, adolescence, older adulthood, and for athletes. Plant-based diets are more environmentally sustainable than diets rich in animal products because they use fewer natural resources and are associated with much less environmental damage. Vegetarians and vegans are at reduced risk of certain health conditions, including ischemic heart disease, type 2 diabetes, hypertension, certain types of cancer, and obesity. Low intake of saturated fat and high intakes of vegetables, fruits, whole grains, legumes, soy products, nuts, and seeds (all rich in fiber and phytochemicals) are characteristics of vegetarian and vegan diets that produce lower total and low-density lipoprotein cholesterol levels and better serum glucose control. These factors contribute to reduction of chronic disease. Vegans need reliable sources of vitamin B-12, such as fortified foods or supplements.

[-] jet@hackertalks.com -1 points 3 days ago

Like I said, I'm happy for you to eat in any way which you feel comfortable, just don't remove the options from others.

[-] Sunshine@lemmy.ca 2 points 3 days ago

Hurting others in "the options" is morally wrong.

[-] jet@hackertalks.com 1 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago)

I respect your sense of morality, but it is not universal. Your downvoting me, which is just petty, speaks to your actual sense of morality.

the bioavailability of nutrition and protein is outstandingly better from natural animal sources.

Live your life any way you like, try to make my people unhealthy and you will find resistance.

[-] sunzu2@thebrainbin.org 1 points 3 days ago

This society treats humans like trash for literally not reason other than "money tho"

[-] undefined@lemmy.hogru.ch 2 points 3 days ago

By society are you referring to slaughterhouses that do that or were you introducing some random other topic that you think disproves what I wrote?

[-] sunzu2@thebrainbin.org -2 points 3 days ago

if people don't care for other people, it is naive of you to expect them to give a fuck about their food lol

cheers!

[-] undefined@lemmy.hogru.ch 2 points 3 days ago

Oh yeah, we can only care about just one thing at any given time. That makes sense.

[-] sunzu2@thebrainbin.org 1 points 2 days ago

priorities tho...

[-] spankmonkey@lemmy.world 6 points 4 days ago* (last edited 4 days ago)

The dog on the barbie is a saterical website by a vegan, so it is neither 'the rage' nor a reason for anything to get spicy.

[-] Sunshine@lemmy.ca 7 points 4 days ago

Unfortunately some people take us seriously when we say we eat Elwood dog steaks.

[-] theywilleatthestars@lemmy.world 4 points 4 days ago

I mean, maybe in vegan specific instances, but I don't see why it would suddenly become a huge thing in the near future.

[-] Sunshine@lemmy.ca 1 points 4 days ago

Lemmy.world and Lemmy.dbzer0.com has conflicts with vegans.

[-] theywilleatthestars@lemmy.world 9 points 4 days ago

Whatever it is I don't care about it. Most vegans are just people who have the courage of their convictions. Any energy spent on this is better spent either having fun or solving actual problems.

[-] Sunshine@lemmy.ca 1 points 4 days ago

Satire has it’s place in the critique of society’s ways.

[-] n3m37h@sh.itjust.works -1 points 4 days ago

Hurrah, more meat for me!!! HANDS OFF THE BACON!!

[-] Sunshine@lemmy.ca 1 points 4 days ago

Right! Don’t take away my lab bacon!

That wasn't food, just hot garbage

[-] Sunshine@lemmy.ca -2 points 4 days ago* (last edited 4 days ago)

You got the “skinny boy to pair with your strawman clip” attempting to make it normalized to treat vegans poorly. You need to be more mature than that.

You wouldn’t say the same thing about a baked potato, so why are vegan alternatives without the animal abuse automatically seen as bad? As more options is always good to have.

If I was behind those two, I would apologize for their rude behaviour and ask for 3 samples with a smile.

[-] n3m37h@sh.itjust.works 1 points 4 days ago* (last edited 4 days ago)

Jesus fuck m8, take a fucking joke

Parks & Rec is a comedy

[-] Sunshine@lemmy.ca -1 points 4 days ago

Well, it’s not funny to me.

[-] n3m37h@sh.itjust.works 0 points 4 days ago

Then don't ask loaded questions you dummy

[-] Sunshine@lemmy.ca -2 points 4 days ago

Now resorting to ad hominems. Someone is acting uncivil.

[-] n3m37h@sh.itjust.works 1 points 4 days ago* (last edited 4 days ago)

You are a piece of work ya know that?

The uncivilized person in this conversation is the one personally taking offence to everything. Seriously m8, you are a top notch Karen/Ken.

You literally asked in ask Lemmy about vegans and you expected people not to make jokes?

[-] Sunshine@lemmy.ca -3 points 4 days ago

I did ask a loaded question. But harming animals when we don’t need to is the uncivilized part here.

You’re trolling today.

[-] n3m37h@sh.itjust.works 1 points 3 days ago

The pigs I raise are well taken care of and have a happy life till they are sent to the abittoire

2 days ago one of my pigs was sick and not moving, I spent 4 hours getting it moving and eating, gave em sugar water, lots of belly rubs

I get waste food from grocery stores (bread, eggs, pies, etc) feed it to the pigs, also my own leftovers are fed to the pigs and then they transform waste into delicious bacon

The only troll is the omnivore who refuses to have the other 50% of their diet. But again, I don't give a flying duck what you eat.

[-] undefined@lemmy.hogru.ch 0 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago)

“The people I raise are well taken care of and have a happy life ‘til I cart them off to the gas chamber.”

I’m sure I’ll get something like “well pigs aren’t people” — so because they’re not human it’s totally okay and humane to fucking kill them because god forbid we stop eating bacon we so utterly/obviously/clearly don’t need to survive.

How about this: maybe let’s not kill animals if it’s not absolutely necessary for our survival.

[-] n3m37h@sh.itjust.works 0 points 3 days ago

Ah the naieveity of a idiot from a city

You know hunting? The act of killing wild animals is FAR more humane than this

And is useful for keeping population in control to stop over population, be it deer, wolves, cyotes, etc

I'm not gonna bother to argue against a naieve idiot.

Factory farming should, that shot is cruelty at its finest

[-] undefined@lemmy.hogru.ch 1 points 3 days ago

I grew up in a hunting family and I’ve been hunting several times in my life thank you very much. The variety of game I was force fed growing up tasted like shit too.

I won’t pretend to know the right answer for population control (there’s a whole debate about it and I acknowledge my ignorance on the subject), but my theory is why bother? I don’t need to kill a bunch of animals to survive so I won’t.

You acknowledge factory farming is pretty cursed, but it wouldn’t surprise me if I found out you’re still buying up meat products whether it be in stores, restaurants or elsewhere.

[-] n3m37h@sh.itjust.works 0 points 3 days ago

OK cool, you don't like game meat, I get it, don't know what point you're trying to make here.

The reason for population control is it throws out the stability of the current ecosystem. Deer, moose, elk can do a shot ton of damage if population is not maintained, just google 'super pigs'

I buy as little meat from stores as possible, I use local farms for my beef and I raise my own chickens (3 egg layers and 15 meats), 2 pigs and around 20 Katahdin sheep.

So again, what point are y'all trying to make?

[-] Sunshine@lemmy.ca 0 points 3 days ago

Stop being uncivil.

No shooting someone is not humane.

There are other ways to manage populations without subjecting animals to cruelty...

[-] n3m37h@sh.itjust.works 0 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago)

What was uncivil?

When did I talk about shooting others?

Predatory animals are the only other population control that works. Look at what caused the wild boars to become overpopulated, they tried to capture and nuter em.... That worked really good...

Is this more civil than a quick death by being shot?

Seriously how old are you? Have you ever been in the woods?

Your entire argument is let's be civil when this world is NOT civilized in the slightest.

If you want to eat ultra process food packed with things like sodium nitrate, potassium sorbate and other highly toxic chemicals, that is YOUR perogative.

https://youtu.be/Fg9_ZnojxmU

Please provide me with some evidence or something that proves YOUR point, calling me uncivilized is counter productive and shows your lack if education on the subject
