Tldr: google is now adding tracking via a URL shortener to every link shared via the share menu in chrome.

Yeah they have been getting rather aggressive with link tracking, I am pretty sure you can't share a reddit link anymore or atleast I have not figured how to remove tracking.

many, many do. what's worse, to many of them that's "the internet", and when I offer them firefox, their complaint is that it does not show news articles...
