This is some weird-ass propaganda article. The article frames this whole thing as a wronged war hero seeking justice, then just slips in a little tidbit that a court found he literally comitted war crimes, before going back to listing his medals.

Quote:

A judge dismissed the defamation claims, finding the articles were substantially true. The judge also found Roberts-Smith was responsible for four of the six unlawful deaths he had been accused of.

The differences in ABC’s.

Pretty much entirely on dry, matter of fact statements or direct quotes. No personal bias and manipulative language.

But as for the news event, this guy is fucking shit and I hope he fails.

Makes me really appreciate the fact that we have a pretty sweet deal in having a public broadcaster in Australia.

What the fuck is this headline?

War hero? This man was found to be a war criminal by the courts.

He abused his wife, and threatened to kill her and multiple soldiers who reported war crimes in Afghanistan. There were a whole series of special forces soldiers who came forward and testified that he did commit the war crimes, including some who openly agreed with him that you should be allowed to murder unarmed civilians, but who were still too dumb or honest to lie in court about his crimes and testified that he did them.

And why on earth would you doubt those accusing him? His entire supposed motive for the accusations is that they're jealous of his medal .... .... ... so they risk perjuring themselves and going to jail to gain nothing but tear him down and ruin their own reputation and that of all their colleagues? Yeah, we can either believe that, or believe the soldiers that testified to witnessing war crimes despite death threats against them.
