So basically we’re getting a live action season 5 of Rebels.

All for it. I wonder how they feel this would appeal to more casual users though..

It's an animated Star Wars series that takes place between the Original trilogy and the Prequel ones, closer to the Original, largely focused on the rise of the Rebel Alliance by following the crew of one Rebel starship.

I thought it was fun. Nothing super amazing, but solidly enjoyable. I also liked it a lot better than Clone Wars (which started too slow, felt too predictable, and had pacing issues).

Yes. The first season seems a bit geared toward children, but that improves in seasons 2-3.

I would watch through at least Season 3 of Clone Wars first (and preferably all the way to the end) as Rebels resolves Darth Maul’s storyline from CW.

I'm not mad about it since I think it is the nature of being a fan, but I don't think Star Wars is really for me anymore. I never saw CWs or Rebels, and I don't really have any inclination to, but it seems that someone needs to consume all SW media to enjoy the new stuff. Eh, but what do I know? I liked TLJ. I hope Ahsoka is good for those that enjoy it.

Did you at least try Andor? Because that's the best Star Wars show I've ever seen, and honestly I'd even say I enjoyed it more than most movies.

I've admittedly seen nearly ever Star Wars show, but can't recommend them all. It's often a pretty shallow series, with comically evil villains that have no depth. But Andor is chefs kiss.

I'm not sure how Ahsoka is gonna be. I sure hope it's closer to Andor than the other recent shows (most of which were only middling quality in my book).

It's on the list. Just haven't been in the mood to start a very serious drama, but I'm looking forward when the mood strikes. I did really enjoy Mando S1, primarily because it was what I've been waiting for: a genre smash in a unique setting (space western). The more the series has moved from that, the less I like those episodes. Andor seems to fit that mold.

Andor is also really independent from most other Star Wars media. It's only really connected to the OT and Rogue One, but you can easily watch Andor first and the other films later.

I’m in the minority who didn’t like Andor. Like, it’s beautifully shot and the set design is great, but it didn’t give that much else for me. I felt no connection to Andor as a character, and I’m not interested in all the surrounding politics regarding the rebellion either.

I figured I’m just done with Star Wars.

I have also fallen out of fandom for SW. I love the original trilogy and I really loved Rebels, but they’re squeezing the franchise to death milking every penny out of it they can. And, in doing so, they’re diluting and de-flavoring something that was once special and awesome, into just another consumerized product.

It’s started to happen to Marvel, too, with all the special interest pandering - not to diminish those special interests because they’re important, but do it in a way that’s not at the expense of quality, and storytelling.

So much of pop culture is being harvested like fucking corn, just squeeze every ounce of value out of it and leave a rotting husk in its wake. They don’t care; they got theirs.

I'm with you, buddy. Like most franchises these days, creators are playing it safe and looking inward and filling in smaller and smaller gaps in canon. As opposed to looking outward and giving us something new, at the risk of it being rejected. Me, I'd prefer to see something different than something familiar, but I guess my continuing Disney+ subscription tells the higher ups otherwise...

Yeah, and I certainly understand the trend with the growing competition of media. I think that notion will stick around, but it will also ebb and flow when the bottom line demands fresh content. That feels justified as Pixar is looking for something that works instead of rereleasing Zootopia and Inside Out again.

This is going to be a very long six weeks. Ahsoka is my favorite Star Wars character ever created. Such depth and growth. Cannot wait!!

I can't put my finger on it but when I pictured a extended Star Wars Universe beyond the movies, what Disney is putting out really wasn't it. I guess I was thinking content more along the lines of KOTOR 1 & 2 thematically
