Personally, I find it endlessly frustrating and even terrifying to be in the passenger seat with a driver who jumps in the car and immediately goes.. Then worries about Seatbelts/Radio/AC/Mirrors/Plugging in Phone/etc etc while driving.

Just being a passenger makes me uncomfortable.

Mood.

The only person who I’m comfortable riding with is my partner—they drive very safe.

Well... Driving a tesla, letting the autopilot do the work, showing off the amazing acceleration and using the karaoke function while driving when it explicitly tells you as you start it up that you shouldn't use it as the driver.

My mate is usually so sound of mind and an absolute delight to be around. But i just don't like driving in his tesla.

  • Not looking at the road.
  • Speeding, even more egregious during bad weather
  • Eating something that isn't hand food or is messy. Also drinking from bottles that require a twist off. Straw is fine.
  • Doing anything on the phone. I don't care if it's just to skip a song. Tell me and I'll do it. I'll even read texts to you. Just keep your eyes on the road.
  • Agreesive drivers. Like, people who wanna try and race others, etc.
  • No insurance of any kind

When the driver is drunk. Inevitably after a party someone will offer to drive me at least part way to home. I try to resist but when I'm also drunk saying no is hard.

You wouldn't want to ride with me, then.
I generally don't secure the seatbelt until I'm moving forward. Not sure why, but I've always done it.

I'll mess with the rearview mirror often, as my position in the seat may shift, and I can't stand it when the view in the mirror isn't centered.

As for the radio... I channel surf like mad. 40 presets and I'll scan through them all before deciding on something that I never stay on very long. My wife can, not, stand it. lol But, the radio controls are on the steering wheel, so doing so isn't a distraction.

In the past, when I drove any of my vehicles that had a manual transmission, I had a habit of rattling the gearshift at stoplights. People who rode with me didn't like that either.

My current car won’t start unless m wearing my seat belt.

You need to get a streaming audio service - you only need one playlist. No commercials. No blather. Just the music you requested. Surfing is no longer relevant

Puttimg their seatbelt on after they start driving. Driving the car with the driver begging center of the lane rather than the car being center of the lane.

People who know damn well they have a right turn coming up in fewer than 30 seconds, but are perfectly comfortable riding that left lane until the last possible second before they violently swoop cut across all lanes of traffic at once to make their turn.

Bonus points if that turning lane is swamped with other cars, but their tunnel vision was so deep they don't notice until they attempt to merge, and they become frustrated that they either can't make it, or they have to aggressively steal the right-of-way to force themselves in.

Not keeping proper distance to the vehicle in front or behind them

[-] Slatlun@lemmy.ml 1 points 1 month ago

How does a driver choose how close someone follows them?
