Jan 2, 2025 - Theme Thursday: Fall of Granada Day

  • Brush: Trotter Handcrafts Gothic 26mm Manchurian T1 Badger Knot
  • Razor: Mühle R41
  • Blade: Gillette 7 O’Clock Super Stainless (Green) [7]
  • Lather: Catie's Bubbles - Connecticut Shade - Soap
  • Post Shave: Catie's Bubbles - Connecticut Shade - Aftershave
  • Fragrance: Australian Private Reserve - Torchwood - Eau de Parfum

When it comes to tobacco and leather, it doesn't get much better than Connecticut Shade and Torchwood for the first shave of 2025.

I really need to get some Connecticut Shade. It sounds wonderful and I'm sure it's right up my alley.

If you love tobacco scents, then this is an underrated gem.

  • Brush: Brad Sears Arley 26mm Super Badger

  • Razor: Puma 89 #2 11/16 Full Hollow

  • Lather: Declaration Grooming - Darkfall - Soap

  • Aftershave: Declaration Grooming - Darkfall - Aftershave

  • Talc: Yardley Gold

3 passes. Face lather. Excellent shave.

Test shave of the Escher edge that I put on this Puma 89. It went very well. The edge is very comfortable and maybe at that perfect point of sharpness. Of course that won't deter me from going through many iterations to see if I can "make it better" :)

  • Brush: Simpson Chubby 2 Manchurian
  • Razor: Böker – Abalone (6/8", full hollow, carbon steel, French point)
  • Lather: Declaration Grooming – Massacre of the Innocents
  • Post Shave: Declaration Grooming – Massacre of the Innocents
  • Fragrance: Tom Ford – Tobacco Vanille

Accidentally partially on theme today. Noice.

Great slow and lazy morning shave. I'm really enjoying this pretty Böker and the MOTI - TV combo is a simple pleasure. Now off to make lunch before taking Djunior to the Christmas circus.

January 2, 2025

  • Brush: Wolf Whiskers – "Gianmaria" w/Maggard 26mm Synthetic
  • Razor: Fatip Classic Testina Gentile
  • Blade: Personna Lab Blue (1)
  • Lather: Stirling Soap Co. - Varen - Soap
  • Post Shave: Stirling Soap Co. - Varen - Aftershave
  • Post Shave: Goodfellow & Co. - Face Lotion - Kelp & Sea Mineral

It was hard to pick a scent this morning because I'm still sick (or is it again sick? It feels like I've been sick for a month). Varen was great, though. I usually use the frag when I do a Varen shave, but I might have to work later and don't want to smoke anyone out.

Thursday, January 02, 2025: Theme Thursday -- Fall of Granada

  • Brush: Rad Dinosaur Creations "Nebulagance" - TurnNShave Quartermoon 26mm synthetic
  • Razor: GEM - Micromatic Clog-Pruf
  • Blade: Personna - GEM PTFE (11)
  • Lather: Stirling - British Leather
  • Post Shave: Barrister and Mann - Roam Two Aftershave splash
  • Post Shave: Stirling - Glacial Unscented Aftershave balm
  • Fragrance: Barrister and Mann - Roam Two EdT

On theme today with leather in British Leather and tobacco in the 2024 scent of the year, Roam Two. Roam Two also arguably has leather notes, but I felt like using British Leather.

The Clog-Pruf gave a great shave this morning. It's most definitely milder than the MMOC I used yesterday.

I'm back to work today after almost two weeks off. It's going to be a long day, but at least it's a very short week this week.

Have a good one y'all.
