As a bit of pedantry, the worlds largest Island is technically Australia

Is a connected landmass, where Australia is the largest island and smallest continent.
And what's the difference?
Just the definition of an island….
"An island is a mass of land smaller than a continent".
This seems to be the most agreed upon definition I can find, which means Australia would not be an island.
