This seems like a problem some FitGirl could solve 🤔

[-] TrousersMcPants@lemmy.world 23 points 5 months ago

FitGirl doesn't make the cracks tho, just repacks them

NGL it's the only name that readily comes to mind. I'm not deep into cracked games, since my tastes are for smaller games like We Happy Few and Outer Wilds. Steam launcher works fine for those, I'm just opposed to a launcher and account from every publisher. Rockstar, EA, Sony, and others can kiss my shiney metal ass. If I have to create an account, I'm not interested

Maybe you're thinking of Empress

[-] Gerudo@lemm.ee 5 points 5 months ago

True, but as soon as a crack appears, they are on the case.

Why does Sony keep doing this?

[-] Pyr_Pressure@lemmy.ca 12 points 5 months ago

Because Sony is a company and all companies are dicks. Why does anyone ever expect otherwise?

Lol when will John Sony learn? How many days in the office do you think they needed to come up with that harebrained scheme?

[-] SirSamuel@lemmy.world 7 points 5 months ago

It's simple.

If the money gained by selling user data is greater than sales lost to piracy because of the required account, it's a win for the company. They probably figure those countries that can't create a PSN account are lost sales anyway, so screw em, right?

It's blatant aggression against ones' own customers like this that really makes me want to take a shit.

Right on Jim Ryan's desk

Their games on PC still seem to be selling pretty well.

I think a lot of people here on social media need a reality check about who is actually participating in the market.

Most people simply do not care about this stuff, they don't need to learn, because the outcry of an infinitely small minority doesn't mean anything to them.

[-] BeardedBlaze@lemmy.world 5 points 5 months ago

Funny how the "small minority" meant enough to them to reverse requiring PSN for Helldivers 2

[-] Takumidesh@lemmy.world 1 points 5 months ago

They pulled the game from all the markets that don't have it, so the concern brought up by the article still stands.

Regional unavailability is whatever. I lived in an unsupported Xbox region and my account didn't seem to mind.

The part that pisses me off is Sony used to put these on GOG when they weren't doing the datamining stuff and that is not viable with the always online requirement under GOG's guidelines. I was fine buying a second copy of Uncharted and God of War I got to keep for preservation purposes, but I'm not repurchasing these on a DRM platform.

Spider-Man 2, maybe. Everybody has a price and mine is Insomniac stuff. But that's it.
