Far too emotional
YDI, not for the comment, but for your history and the mod seeing the comment and checking your history.
What don’t you like about my history ?
6 different moderators have censured you in the last few months
it tends to remove the benefit of the doubt.
Ok and ?
the moderator was behaving reasonably given the context.
The context being, because other mods have banned me, this mod should to ?
A touch medieval don’t you think ?
a inflammatory statement wont be given the benefit of the doubt
So, I read the piece, my opinion of the piece is that it’s far too emotional.
So I wrote that.
If you are, as perhaps the moderator was, somehow inflamed by that, I can only apologies and wish you the best of luck with forums.
Alternatively, if I’m out line as you say, maybe I’m the one who should avoid taking the time to add comments and keep a dying platform alive for a bit longer ?
It's a anti-corporate forum, they wear their agenda on their sleeve. They are trying to suss out bias amongst their community.
By all means keep participating in lemmy, I enjoy your content and interactions.
You have an interesting history: https://slrpnk.net/modlog?page=1&actionType=All&userId=13114161
I say some popular things and I say some unpopular things, but I’m glad you like it.
What’s your favourite bit ?
Have you ever been shot in the face?
IIRC It was replying to a guy, who said he liked to jump hard on the brakes every few seconds if people were driving too close, so I wondered, you know, if anyone had got pissed off with him .
I don’t see anything wrong with it, but like I said - mods like the ban button, it’s why they do it.
I think that's quite a bit of a reaction from that mod. Leaning towards PTB
This seems like a big overreaction to me, so I see it as a clear PTB. I dislike the idea of banning people based on history in other communities, other than to check if they are a bot or advertiser or something obviously malicious. Trolling could mean something as simple as being sarcastic, and glancing through OP's history they seem to be a real person who believes what they say, even if they can be quite rude about it.
But the upvote/downvote split suggests the community is more divided on this.
Sidebar of that community's instance states
We have a strict nonviolent approach and welcome anyone who is willing to learn and check their ego at the door.
Seems reasonable to ban OP based on their modlog
PTB
most people become mods to they get their own ban button
i did the opposite and became a mod so i cant get banned
200 IQ
Yeah sure looks like a PTB to me. Lazy mod
Ye Power Trippin' Bastards
This is a community in the spirit of "Am I The Asshole" where people can post their own bans from lemmy or reddit or whatever and get some feedback from others whether the ban was justified or not.
Sometimes one just wants to be able to challenge the arguments some mod made and this could be the place for that.
Rules
- Post only about bans or other sanctions from mod(s).
- Provide the cause of the sanction (e.g. the text of the comment).
- Provide the reason given by the mods for the sanction.
- Don't use private communications to prove your point. We can't verify them and they can be faked easily.
- Don't deobfuscate mod names from the modlog with admin powers.
- Don't harass mods or brigade comms. Don't word your posts in a way that would trigger such harassment and brigades.
- Do not downvote posts if you think they deserved it. Use the comment votes (see below) for that.
- You can post about power trippin' in any social media, not just lemmy. Feel free to post about reddit or a forum etc.
Expect to receive feedback about your posts, they might even be negative.
Make sure you follow this instance's code of conduct. In other words we won't allow bellyaching about being sanctioned for hate speech or bigotry.
Some acronyms you might see.
- PTB - Power-Tripping Bastard: The commenter agrees with you this was a PTB mod.
- YDI - You Deserved It: The commenter thinks you deserved that mod action.
- BPR - Bait-Provoked Reaction: That mod probably overreacted in charged situation, or due to being baited.
- CLM - Clueless mod: The mod probably just doesn't understand how their software works.
