Game is Dark Souls (series)
I actually love it. The deaths are often not cheap so it's fine. Plus the ability to grab your lost points makes it easier than people think it is. Farming can be fun too, I love confidently farming an entire area and trying different things out.

Legendary meme...

During that era they promised us FEMA camps staffed by Obama death panels and they were gonna put boomers in them.

And yet ACA passed and boomers are still around

Hmmm

We can still dream tho

I'm currently stuck in both DS1 and 3 because the only way forward in both is by boss fights I can't beat. Pretty annoying. But I'm also farming and trying new weapons and abilities out so it's also a learning experience.

I feel like I would really struggle doing a playthrough of each at the same time, but if it's working for you, that's good. which bosses are you on?

[-] TachyonTele@lemm.ee 4 points 1 week ago

Oh man, I started with 1, got to that deman with the dogs in the small courtyard. Absolutely loved the game.

So I got 2, but for some reason the entire game is running at like 3X speed, so it's unplayable.

So I got 3. Didn't like how "smooth" and quicker you move in it.

Jumped back to 1, defeated that demon and now am going thru the dark sewer catacombs (?) it has all the slimes that drop on you.

Also retried 3 with a different build and got seriously hooked. I have to defeat the giant skeleton with a crown, and the painting area.

3 might be my favourite game ever. Tough toss up but it’s definitely up there without a doubt. Enjoy it, I’m jealous you can play it for the first time

It's addicting. I just "beat" the giant worm in the underground lake.

By beat i mean a nice fellow killed it with giant arrows for me lol

[-] cod@lemmy.world 2 points 5 days ago

Yep, I did that too! You’ve made good progress then obviously. Good job, and good luck with the rest of the game!

Ahh, the capra demon. Bane of many a Dark Souls run. I'm sure that if you wanted guides you'd look them up, but honestly it's not a bad fight at all if you can survive the scramble at the start

Agreed the hard part is getting to the stairs. I actually found the cheese, then looked the fight up and was happy to learn that is the cheese lol. But it was a tough journey there.

[-] Skua@kbin.earth 5 points 1 week ago

I don't know if that's even cheese, I think it's the intended solution. How do you handle three fast-moving enemies at once? Use the choke point that the devs put just behind them

[-] TachyonTele@lemm.ee 2 points 1 week ago

I believe so too. There's no way a game that tight suddenly has an arena as mismatched as that without a reason. Devs be trollin

[-] scutiger@lemmy.world 1 points 6 days ago

You also find Alluring Skulls before that, which can also be used to make the fight easier.

[-] ElcaineVolta@kbin.melroy.org 3 points 1 week ago

wow, you're making great progress! I'm impressed you're keeping up a mental map of the game spaces playing both simultaneously, I feel like that alone was a bit demanding - especially DS1.

Funnily I think Tunic is what got me into gear for enjoying Dark Souls. That game is so much better than it looks it is. And its a love letter to DS and Zelda, and to old games with instruction manuals.

[-] Skua@kbin.earth 5 points 1 week ago

The start of Tunic being basically the exact same as Dark Souls made me laugh once I reaised what it was doing. "Here, take your rubbish weapon and your dodge roll and go ring two important bells in opposite directions from here. It's important for saving the world."

Tunic late-ish game spoilersHoly shit the reveal of the endless rows of trapped ghost fox things was jaw-dropping. I think it worked even better specifically because of the adorable art style

[-] Berttheduck@lemmy.ml 1 points 6 days ago

Yeah the story for tunic and what's going on underneath all the happy Zelda like over world was pretty jaw dropping. I loved that game.

[-] TachyonTele@lemm.ee 1 points 1 week ago

Same for me on both accounts. I knew enough of dark souls to recognize the bells. And yeah that area was very cool going into it blind

Im a huge metroidvania fan. But DS1 has way too many connections and shortcuts. It's a little ridiculous how interconnected everything is. That's why I restarted DS3, actually. I got tired of trying to remember where to go.

pillaged Key for Random Door in Lower Burg

Cooool... There's like two doors down there, what is this!? Lol
