This is a level of haunting that just resonates
Just imagine the desperation someone would have to have to drive them to meet their god face to face only to have that desperation turn to fear and/or anguish at the sight of your god being dead
"I have traveled for years hunting my god down to the edge of this world and others, hoping that I could ask them to grant me one single wish: to bring my family back."
The words echo into the darkness of the titanic chamber
Their torch brought closer to the body
"Only to find the remains of a dead god. I don't know how, I don't know why, but I guess even gods can die."
The adventures body begins to tremble
"All this time, all this suffering..."
They collapse to their knees, the torch falls from their hands
"All the friends I've lost to get here!"
Images of long dead companions pass before their eyes, the tears start to flow as they put their face into their hands
"For a pile of dusty bones!"
They scream with the force a life wasted in pursuit of an impossible goal, it echoes into the darkness alone, the tears fall freely as the torch light begins to fade.
