Got any plans this weekend? Going away for a nice long weekend? Staying in and gaming for two days straight? Celebrating your divorce? We want to hear it ๐Ÿ˜Ž

Personally we're just going to make some home made pizzas, and enjoy a bottle of red after the kids have (finally) gone to bed. Then we're getting a rare evening to ourselves on Saturday night by heading out to a local restaurant.

Taking my son to the zoo tomorrow! Don't think he's going to get any sleep tonight, he's so excited, bless him ๐Ÿ˜…

Didn't know they accepted kids as exhibits now but good to hear

I don't think it's official policy but if you leave them behind with a label on the zoos can make use of them. A surprising number of the "animals" you see are just kids in fancy costumes.

Oh you ๐Ÿ˜…

The car is in for some work after breaking down yesterday, so we won't be going anywhere until Monday at least.

Some homemade Mexican and TV this evening. Mouseproofing my SO's shed/studio, moving the tumbledryer to its more accessible winter position and getting the garden furniture into the other shed are the jobs for the weekend otherwise.

I'm playing a gig tonight at a pub in Staines, then tomorrow I'm heading off to Gloucester for the rest of the weekend.

Lil weenies. Long haired standard dachshunds. Hopefully they will play with each other. Had one male for 2 years and think he needs a buddy. So got him his sister or niece or something

I'm planning on spending most of the day tomorrow making 3 litres of fancy mushroom soup/sauce, to jar for meals over the next week.
And aside from that, a bit of cleaning and laundry and I'll probably get back to work on the gouache portraits I've been experimenting with recently.

My fancy is fancy, but double entendre's aside (sorry, I couldn't help it), among other ingredients, I'm using a bunch of dried porcini and an unlabled bag of dried mushrooms from the Polish supernarket, along with a whole bunch of standard supermarket fresh mushrooms, and shallots and celeriac in the mirepoix- so this soup is going to be hella good! And it's going on pasta too at some point, which will hopefully be delicious too.

Now that does sound fancy and mushroomy, as you'd hope.

Do you have a favourite soup?

[-] Emperor@feddit.uk 3 points 2 years ago

No there's a question. I'd probably go for a spicy tomato and lentil.

Soup is one of those things that I never go, "you know what I want for dinner... soup" but I am rearly disappointed when I do get soup. ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ

Maybe you just gotta learn how to make good soup? Once the recipe is in your brain and you know how easy to make and good it tastes, you'll be craving it in no time.

Got a family do and having to drive into London because the trains are not running.

Cooking chilli tonight then the pub - a friend broke his leg up a mountain a few weeks back and I'm his lift home (and no, I don't drink).

Working tomorrow, then probably a baked potato before the pub.

Sunday I am digging through the family records, photos and "treasures" as my niece has got her history assignments for the year and it is to write about the First and Second World Wars. Then some leftover chilli.
