Ashkually dogs were domesticated 20,000 years before cats thought about domesticating us.
I am reasonably sure that if cats domesticated us before we domesticated dogs, we wouldn't have domesticated dogs at all.
Fun fact cats were domestivated twice, but only one line lives on today (african wildcat and the central asian wildcat)
I'm pretty sure cats domesticated us instead.

In medieval times cats were seen as evil and chased away. The job of hunting mice was done by smaller dogs.
