I am just on crochet at the moment moving house and everything is in storage. I have been dying some yarns and bleaching some yarns though to make something new from something I don’t like.
I don't really have an ongoing single project but I do have an ongoing "project" to learn leathercrafting, hopefully one day to be able to have a little sidehustle in making some relatively niche and bespoke things. I've been taking things slow for once rather than rushing headlong into it, not buying too much stuff and getting overwhelmed, practicing things over and over and I'm really loving it.
I've been posting my journey so far in the Leather Craft community with pictures and stories of all the stuff I've made so far.
My latest items that I made just yesterday, a cuff and a small clutch to use the new hardware closures I bought.
My workshop is a dark window-less basement so I've been working on installing venting and adding vibes so it's nicer to work down there.
Just finished 3D printing and soldering together this sign and put it up on a fake plastic green wall I recently added. I just my to put up my bird song box and connect it all to home automation.
Researching safe carbon transfer photography.
Getting into woodworking from watching YouTube. Mostly just getting my work area setup and basic tools.
But I did make this Rex Krueger cricket stool:
A long list of refurb and land work, but my main focus the past couple weeks has been getting a kitchen garden growing in my new place. It’s been a few years since I’ve had my hands in the soil and it feels great to be growing again. Just a few beds for salad and greens right now, with a few new fruit trees, canes and bushes. I’d love to get my hands on a rotovator/cultivator to get some bigger bits of land in cultivation, but there’s limited cash and a long list of expenses.
I'm trying to help set up an interactive map for the Disco Elysium wiki project hosted on wiki.gg (it will go live in late April), so trying to understand how leafletjs works and making image tiles things
I'm also planning the updated user interface for a trackmania lan tournament happening later this year, you can catch a glimpse of what it looked like last year here : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rJ2_W0r0aA0&t=9479s
Nice!
Smacking some copper around to make a jellyfish sculpture for a commission.

Just saw this post!
Yea that's me! I've made a login specifically for my art so I can start separating it from my ranting. I've received my very first commission from a fellow Lemming. One of the purchasers of an original jelly was from Lemmy as well and now I am super convinced Lemmy can be my new home for more than just personal use.
It would be very cool to encourage other independent business people with original ideas to congregate here to promote their work.
I have ADHD and can't seem to actually finish a god damn project, but starting them is easy! So...
Woodworking/carving:
- spoonula that I literally just need to finish sanding
- trinket bowl
- need to bleach and oil a dozen cheese knives I otherwise finished six months ago lol
- espresso tamper
- compost tamper
Sewing:
- a bunch of swaddle blankets for some pregnant friends
- UPF fabric kaftan for the beach
- slipcover for my office chair
You and I! I'm a great project starter!
A homestead. It’s never ending and everything takes longer than expected. Today we are going to move some boulders as a foundation for shipping containers.
Here is a photo from 2 days ago, we did the first half. But the other side will be above ground to level the container.
First time homeowner here, so Reno/food garden / workshop/ hooo boy am i feeling ya. Also needing to expand the water storage for the upcoming rainy season ...
We just got a 2,500 gallon tank, but it’s not connected yet, also going to collect rain water soon. Soon we will have a food garden too, but that’s one of the last things we are going to focus on. At least we started a compost pile already because I know that will take a year or two to be ready.
If you're going permaculture for your food, start now with some nitrogen fixers and soil conditioners.
I need to get back to it, but I'm repairing a couple of knives.
One was my dad's first knife. Beat all to hell, and needed the handle repaired or replaced. Decided to repair it, but finding the right size cutler's rivets or the equivalent has been a pain. Recently found some that should work, but there's been too many physical obstacles to me getting the work done.
The other is a similar knife that I'm making a fancy handle for out of some stabilized cedar I had used on a folding knife a few years ago. Didn't want the material going to waste, so I bought an old knife with a missing handle to use it on. Same deal though, every time I go to work on it, something delays me and then either the arthritis flares up, or I injure my back again lol.
Raising a dresser hutch and finishing off the workshop twintack so i can move in there and build a fliptop mitre saw stand and my server rack which means i can rack my servers and start building the infrastructure for the home automation. Also gotta finish roadbasing a new path, then screed and pave and THEN i have the level to start working on the wicking bed area...
A backpack!
Been getting into MYOG the last few weeks/months, and after a few practice projects I'm now drafting my own travel backpack pattern. Just made the first fabric prototype including all the trickiest parts yesterday, and it all fit. So today i printed the final patterns and will begin preparing the pieces of the actual pack.
Nice! Making a full set of patterns isn't easy, kudo to you! If the pattern is digital is there a chance you'd be willing to share it?
Thanks! Yes, i plan to share it once I know everything fits and is understandable. If i remember I'll dm you, otherwise check out c/myog from time to time.
The never ending project to find the next paid project to pay for food .. the life of being self-employed.
