Summary

Elon Musk, after spending $21 million backing conservative Brad Schimel in Wisconsin’s Supreme Court race, amplified election fraud claims following Schimel’s loss to liberal judge Susan Crawford.

Musk boosted a post by Alex Jones featuring Roger Stone, who alleged mail-in vote fraud. Schimel rejected the claims, urging supporters to accept the results.

Musk pivoted to highlighting a voter ID ballot measure, though Wisconsin already requires ID. Critics see his reaction as echoing Trump-era denialism.

Despite GOP pressure, Schimel’s concession stood out for its rare break from MAGA conspiracy rhetoric.

Oh look, Conservatives sowing more doubt and mistrust because they can't handle it when faced with how unpopular they are.

Quelle surprise.

[-] ThePantser@sh.itjust.works 24 points 2 weeks ago

Sowing like planting seeds not sewing like creating a garment

But now that I think about it they both kinda work... sewing the threads of lies.

[-] billiam0202@lemmy.world 9 points 2 weeks ago

You know, I looked at that and knew it looked wrong but brain couldn't figure out why.

Thanks!

[-] jaybone@lemmy.zip 4 points 2 weeks ago

Also not sure what it means to quelle surprise.

[-] bradv@lemmy.ca 15 points 2 weeks ago

It's French for what a surprise

[-] ironhydroxide@sh.itjust.works 3 points 2 weeks ago

I also have no clue. Though Quelle in German is a spring, or source.

[-] Bonesince1997@lemmy.world 1 points 2 weeks ago

Instead of a seamstress, we've got a memestress.

[-] ArbitraryValue@sh.itjust.works 9 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago)

Perhaps some leading election deniers are motivated by a psychological defense mechanism, but I think that many realize the strategic benefit. The members of the public who are convinced that Democrats steal elections will vote Republican. They'll also be more willing to accept a Republican refusing to leave office after losing an election, if things come to that.

[-] al_Kaholic@lemmynsfw.com 3 points 2 weeks ago

Anyone voting Republican after 2017 is a lost cause. No matter what happens they are voting R. Save your breath and sympathy.

[-] ArbitraryValue@sh.itjust.works 1 points 2 weeks ago

I'm not sure how that's related to what I wrote.

[-] kipo@lemm.ee 0 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago)

I disagree. While I will never forgive those voters, I don't think most of them are lost causes. They've been manipulated by the largest, most well-funded misinformation and propaganda campaign ever waged against the American people.

Exercising even the smallest amount of critical thinking skills protects oneself against most of it, but no one is completely immune to misinformation.

[-] al_Kaholic@lemmynsfw.com -1 points 2 weeks ago

Sure buddy I'm sum it up for you. "Two Trump Elections." But keep turning the other cheek. This time Lucy won't pull the football. She promised. 🙄

[-] KnowledgeableNip@sh.itjust.works 1 points 2 weeks ago

They're also doing this so when they get caught committing election fraud they'll have a "whatabout" argument even though it's based on nothing.

An appeal to their base just loud enough to be heard over the whistle of wind between their ears.

[-] arotrios@lemmy.world 54 points 2 weeks ago

Ya know, Elon...

[-] A_Random_Idiot@lemmy.world 37 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago)

"I WASNT ABLE TO BUY THIS ELECTION DESPITE MY VAST WEALTH, SO OBVIOUSLY SOMEONE ELSE BOUGHT THIS ELECTION AND STOLE IT WITH THEIR VAST WEALTH, ITS THE ONLY CONCEIVABLE REASON WHY I COULD POSSIBLY LOSE!"

[-] zbyte64@awful.systems 31 points 2 weeks ago

Elon, this isn't an auction you disphit

[-] AbidanYre@lemmy.world 27 points 2 weeks ago

Musk boosted a post by Alex Jones featuring Roger Stone

It's like a who's who of absolutely garbage people.

[-] PunkRockSportsFan@fanaticus.social 24 points 2 weeks ago

This is a guy who wants to blame the world for his botched gender affirmation surgery that left him with a mangled useless sex organ.

No wonder he hates trans people so much.

No wonder he has so many ivf babies with multiple women.

No wonder he wants to experiment on unwilling human subjects in El Salvador until he can get the neuralink chip to work (he wants to be able to push a button to get off. He has been waiting years for his tantric release. There is no other way)

No wonder he’s so rich yet seems so unhappy.

botched gender affirmation surgery that left him with a mangled useless sex organ

I keep hearing this around here. Is there any actual reason to think it's true?

Even if the bit about the surgery is true, it's a very reductive explanation of issues which clearly aren't new in his life. He was brought up by far-right parents and his father apparently showed him no love. He has been poisonously insecure all his life, only now he has the power to inflict his psychological troubles on the world. Ever since he got financially lucky in the 1990s, he has had the money to buy influence and pay people to do what he wants, so he has never become equipped to deal with people as equals and has all kinds of issues and insecurities around power. He discovered early that, while he had trouble making friends, he could make an impression on people by being edgy and controversial, and has never managed to move beyond this into a more mature persona.

I feel like saying "it's all because of his wonky penis" trivializes how profoundly this man's life has messed him up, and how many complex factors are at work in his psyche. It also implicitly insults anyone else who doesn't have "normal" genitalia.

[-] Yerbouti@sh.itjust.works 8 points 2 weeks ago

how profoundly this man’s life has messed him up, and how many complex factors are at work in his psyche.

Why should we give a single fuck? This guy lies, cheat and sayd himself he thinks empathy is a weakness. Why should have any towards him. He calls everyone he disagree losers, called my prime minister "girl" and openly makes nazi salutes, and you want us to play the "Tell me about chilhood Elon" card? He's a little narcissist privilege bitch who's been exploiting people all his life, and I will be happy to take a piss on his grave. And I have no doubt the size of his dick (it's obviously tiny) is one of the reasons he want's to make the world suffer.

[-] ploot@lemmy.blahaj.zone 2 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago)

It's not that I feel any particular sympathy for Elon Musk. But I'm sure there are lots of people living with small dicks who don't experience any need to become crazy Nazis, and lots of crazy Nazis with sizeable penises. I just feel this whole "a man needs a big dick to be secure, and any insecure man has a small dick" thing is a somewhat offensive outlook.

[-] Yerbouti@sh.itjust.works 2 points 2 weeks ago

The reason to make fun of his dick size is because that's one of the only way that we can get to him. This guys controls half of the planet, the only thing we have is to make fun of him on social networks. You can call him a racist pos, transphobe, hateful, he actually takes prides into this. But call him a small dick and you just know he will spent the night convincing himself he as the biggest dick on the planet. Just like Donald the pedo and crowd size.

I'm sure a lot a men with small dicks are perfectly happy and secure about themselves, because they don't live in a superficial privilege bubble, just like lots of men rock their grey hairs and balding. But you got to admit Musk screams insecurity so it's totally fine to assume the size of dick is something he thinks about all the time.

[-] ultranaut@lemmy.world 3 points 2 weeks ago

I looked into it a week or two ago and couldn't find any definitive evidence. It seems plausible because Musk is well known for being into plastic surgery and IVF, but other than a musician who knows Grimes publicly claiming that Grimes confirmed it to them, I didn't see anything that looked convincing.

[-] AlexLost@lemm.ee 1 points 2 weeks ago

If he wanted us to care, he should try using empathy. He went in the opposite direction and now reaps what he has sown.

[-] cheese_greater@lemmy.world 1 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago)

Is it possible he literally cannot have orgasms and sexual release? Can't he get pegged or something, maybe Neuralink has a backdoor to his Backdoor

[-] just_another_person@lemmy.world 23 points 2 weeks ago

Your attempts to steal an election were subverted and now you're complaining. Fucking GOLD.

[-] MithranArkanere@lemmy.world 13 points 2 weeks ago

He thinks it's "stolen" because he also thought he had bought it and thus owned it.

[-] AllNewTypeFace@leminal.space 6 points 2 weeks ago

With the right, it’s. Always. Projection.

[-] BigMacHole@lemm.ee 5 points 2 weeks ago

See! I TOLD you! That this was Rigged and NOT that Republicans are Predictable Babies who claim EVERY SINGLE ELECTION THEY LOSE is Rigged!

[-] Yerbouti@sh.itjust.works 5 points 2 weeks ago

At this point, I don't see how we can ever trust conservative again. They kept showing they won't play by any rules, they are willing to lie, cheat and manipulate to get what they want. The left needs to radicalize his actions, you cannot negotiate with cheaters.

[-] Jumpingspiderman@lemmy.world 1 points 1 week ago

JFC, Conservatives have NEVER played by the rules others made. The central tenet of Conservative is that there is an in group (Conservatives) which the law protects but does not bind and an out group which the law binds but does not protect.

[-] Retreaux@lemmy.world 3 points 2 weeks ago

It's about time someone besides Democrats spent buttloads of money in order to lose it all.

[-] HubertManne@piefed.social 2 points 2 weeks ago

he payed for that election fair and square!!!

[-] Tryenjer@lemmy.world 1 points 1 week ago

Poor Musk was robbed, he was promised that if he paid generously, the election result would be guaranteed. In the end he was cheated, it's unfair. Cry, Cry, crocodile tears. 😭

[-] TwinTitans@lemmy.world 2 points 2 weeks ago

Waaaaaaaaaa!

[-] 2ugly2live@lemmy.world 1 points 2 weeks ago

YOU LITERALLY BOUGHT VOTES

[-] WindyRebel@lemmy.world 1 points 2 weeks ago

…Which is why he thinks it’s rigged…

[-] frezik@midwest.social 1 points 1 week ago

Can't argue with that logic. CHECK AND MATE, LIBERAL!

[-] Zess@lemmy.world 1 points 2 weeks ago

He's been able to get whatever he wants by throwing money at it his whole life, so when it doesn't work he automatically cries foul.

[-] AngryRobot@lemmy.world 1 points 2 weeks ago

Exactly like Trump.

[-] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 1 points 2 weeks ago

I want to know why anyone still uses that shitty Nazi site he bought.

[-] alkbch@lemmy.ml 0 points 1 week ago

Because it’s the site where you can follow and interact with the most people.

[-] MiyamotoKnows@lemmy.world 0 points 1 week ago

You spelled bots wrong homie.

[-] alkbch@lemmy.ml 0 points 1 week ago

Sure, there are bots. There are also a lot of real people, politicians, journalists, analysts, software engineers etc.

I actually tried to replace X a few weeks ago and considered Mastodon and Bluesky. Nobody I follow on X is on Mastodon, and only three are on Bluesky.

[-] SovsensMester@feddit.dk 1 points 1 week ago

Go outside? I have never used Twitter and live a perfectly normal life. I have access to plenty of information and opinions from paid subscriptions to newspapers and personal blogs. No one can communicate anything serious on Twitter. For sport highlights or similar - I get it. For anything else - a social tool - people have simply forgotten to go outside and do real stuff with real people. You are lying to yourself by saying Twitter provides something you can't live without.

[-] Wilco@lemm.ee 1 points 2 weeks ago

How can this man walk freely on the street? He would get shanked in prison and those dudes have to make knives with toothbrushes and other garbage.

This idiot just walks around and no one shoots their shot.

[-] TranscendentalEmpire@lemm.ee 1 points 2 weeks ago

Well, I mean he had an entire security detail deputized by the US Marshalls....so it's not like he's just walking out in the open. The guy surrounds himself with sycophants and other billionaires, it's the only way to completely isolate yourself from reality.

I don't think he's really made an actual public appearance since being booed on stage at that chapel show, and that was by people going to see an unfunny transphobe.

[-] pleasegoaway@lemm.ee 0 points 1 week ago

He would be protected by the nazis in prison.

[-] GetOffReddit@lemmy.world 1 points 1 week ago

lol, how long before the prison Nazis get tired of his shit.
