Ahead of its long-delayed American premiere, an unfinished 'workprint' copy of "A Minecraft Movie" is circulating on pirate sites. Warner Bros. is trying to contain this and other leaks, but that may prove difficult. The incident mirrors the infamous 2009 X-Men Origins: Wolverine workprint leak and the involvement of the FBI, which led to the arrest and conviction of an uploader. The source of that leak was never publicly disclosed.

It's already available in pretty high quality from pirate stream sites.

Also available to download as "PRE-HD" whatever that means.

Edit: PRE-HD means it's the workprint

And yet I was saying just today there's no way I'd go to the movies to see it anyway... Because Microsoft. Yet another example of how they'd never get money anyway but no doubt there'll be another article claiming they lost billions from the leak or some bs

I was totally trying to figure out what Microsoft had to do with this and had a complete brain fart forgetting MS bought Minecraft.

I've thrown a copy up on my personal website (username + .com) if anyone wants to check it out. From a quick skim I can confirm it is somehow even worse than the normal one. (Mods please remove this if it's too close to linking to pirated content).

Thank you, you're the best!

It's not an unfinished leak, it's an indev beta

Early Access

Coincidentally both movies are crap too

Seriously, I watched the leaked workprint. It's really, really bad. Bad script, bad acting, bad styling, just bad bad bad. First time I've legitimately seen Jack Black phone it in.

aw that's a shame, I was hoping this would actually be a decent romp.

[-] Euphoma@lemmy.ml 1 points 1 day ago

I just watched it today with my friends and had fun. Idk it was pretty funny movie

[-] LostXOR@fedia.io 5 points 1 day ago

Mind sending me a download link?

I personally found it on soulseek, most trackers are avoiding it because pre-release brings extra heat.

[-] LostXOR@fedia.io 7 points 1 day ago

Thanks, found it on there. If anyone wants to find it just search the title of the movie and download one of the "worse" files.

[-] Flax_vert@feddit.uk 1 points 1 day ago

Is the final one available anywhere?

[-] limer@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 1 day ago

My understanding is that this is not terrible, only bad then? In top ten new movies this year?

No, even being a kids movie couldn't save this pile of crap. Even the crappiest kids movies have some heart. Like Dogman was legitimately fucking stupid, but it had heart to it, I cared about the characters despite how stupid it all was. A Minecraft Movie fails in every measure to have characters you care about at all. I feel nothing for these idiotic jabronis breezing through the film, the writing and acting is legitimately that bad.

what are they so worried about spaceballs came out with instant cassettes years ago

[-] Kolanaki@pawb.social 8 points 1 day ago

That's why they never released Spaceballs 2: The Search for More Money

It all makes sense now! Like the 1234 password!

[-] bad_news@lemmy.billiam.net 46 points 1 day ago

[-] pastermil@sh.itjust.works 27 points 1 day ago

Financially Independent, Retire Early? Never heard of that opsec.

It lets you pay for the oncoming lawsuit

[-] ookiiBoy@lemmy.blahaj.zone 19 points 1 day ago

... And nothing of value was lost.

A lot of movies go through rewrites and updates before they get released, so saying it’s bad now may not be indicative of the final product. I mean look at Sonic. If that movie got released during its unfinished phase everyone would have hated it. That’s why they do test screenings and ask for feedback before release. Sometimes the movie will drastically change from its original.

The workprint leak came a day before the official release, the plot and cut of the film is exactly the same. It's just missing a significant amount of the effects.

[-] ColeSloth@discuss.tchncs.de 2 points 1 day ago

It's already out in some countries, so there should be some real reviews, though jokes in translation can often be a mixed bag.

Oh no... Not that
