Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has indicated he would look to buy back the Port of Darwin from Chinese company Landbridge under a re-elected Labor government, the most significant move yet to bring the strategic asset once more under Australian ownership.

Mr Albanese said in an interview with the Australian Broadcasting Corp radio on April 4 the port needs to be “in Australian hands”, including the possibility that a private buyer would be sought to take control.

“We will enter into negotiations to do that,” Mr Albanese said. “That is what we’ve been doing informally through potential buyers up to this point already, and if it reaches a point where the Commonwealth needs to directly intervene, then we’d be prepared to do that.”

Can we do all our other essential services that've been sold out from underneath us by the libs over the last 30 years? Can we get money for all the gas we give away too? Can we look after our citizens and not the wealthy lobby groups that've bought this country?

Watch the media turn on anyone that tries such sensible shit. And then watch the voters lap it up.

Telecom Australia should never have been sold.

None of it should've been sold.

Public owned Telecom Australia charged like a wounded bull and provided poor service in connection or repair.

Telecom disabused me of the idea that government monopolies wouldn't exploit their monopoly position

Good election time strategy imo. Shows the Libs are not capable of safeguarding Australian national interests.

There's one-off, cash grabbing sales of public assets, many of which are short-sighted and stupid.

Then there is the sale of the Darwin port, which added a whole other level of stupid on top.

Everyone involved with it should be forced to do the Game of Thrones walk of shame.
