The president of El Salvador said in a meeting with Donald Trump in the White House on Monday that he would not order the return of a Maryland man who was deported in error to a Salvadorian mega-prison.

“The question is preposterous,” Nayib Bukele said in the Oval Office on Monday, where he was welcomed by Trump and spoke with the president and members of his cabinet. “How can I smuggle a terrorist into the United States? I’m not going to do it.”

He added: “I don’t have the power to return him to the United States,” and said he would not release the man, Kilmar Abrego García, into El Salvador either. “I’m not very fond of releasing terrorists into the country.”

I am not surprised this is how things are unfolding. That's the whole point of having a foreign country host your concentration camps: Put the Liability on them and wash your hands of the matter.

Why would they need to "smuggle" him back into the country? He's an innocent man, wrongfully incarcerated in a foreign prison. What the fuck is wrong with these assholes?

[-] ZWQbpkzl@hexbear.net 7 points 1 day ago

No, see, he's just playing word games. He has a hostage now. You understand the man who runs superjail for profit is not a good man right?

Here's all you need to know: we're paying El Salvador to keep these prisoners. We have the power here, we're just feigning helplessness.

This is the same trick they're playing with Zelensky/Ukraine. The US CONTROLS Ukraine COMPLETELY. We are the ones that built up their CIA (SBU). We couped them in 2014. We are the ones that planned and executed terrorist attacks on Russia. We are the ones that feed them targeting information. Zelensky is a puppet. The guy was supposed to be a peace candidate. The idea that Trump abandoned Zelensky, who wants to fight the war sooooooooooooooo badly is such a fucking joke.

I don't think they even know if he's dead or alive. I'm pretty sure all the cash is up front too.

Everybody with more than one brain cell knows this. I guess it's a Show for the Supreme Court to say that "We would like and tried, but it's not possible"

[-] ZWQbpkzl@hexbear.net 5 points 1 day ago

Would not mind if we Noreiga'd him.

[-] 3dmvr@lemm.ee 13 points 1 day ago

He kept calling him a criminal/terrorist

[-] culpritus@hexbear.net 10 points 1 day ago

Definitely seems like he is dead. They are just trying to delay that info becoming public with this charade.

[-] reagansrottencorpse@lemmy.ml 11 points 1 day ago

On what basis are they calling him a terrorist? Nothing?

"How can I smuggle a terrorist into the United States? I'm not going to do it."

Republicans have claimed Mexico has been doing exactly this for decades. Even if he was a terrorist (he's not) then by conservative LoGiC he could already be back by now. Conservatives have to drop everything they've believed for years to read this and not see the glaring holes in it.

[-] zaphodb2002@sh.itjust.works 2 points 21 hours ago

The trick is that they've never believed any of it!

[-] oyo@lemm.ee 4 points 1 day ago

The spineless scrotus explicitly laid out this loophole and the admin used it. Big surprise. We're teetering on the brink.

[-] cyborganism@lemmy.ca 6 points 1 day ago

He must've gotten threats from Trump and his goons if he sent him back.

[-] vfreire85@lemmy.ml 4 points 1 day ago

nah, knowing bukele he did it willingly.
