It's a BE (backend) bug. Our instance admins need to update the BE to version 0.18.4.

Not me, thanks. I would rather pay for my own vacation, but everyone just leave me TF alone.

Unfortunatelly, drive letters are reminants from the DOS and early Windows days (anything that isn't NT 6.2 kernel based or above, has to have drive letters), so they have to stay for backwards compatibility.

Actually, up until Windows 8, drive letters were required for booting as well (which can be seen in the safe mode boot screen). Windows 8 and above doesn't require them though (can be seen in safe mode with debugging enabled), but they are there and will stay there for a very, very long time. Windows can't just part ways with them, there are just way too many things tied to them... legacy stuff, but legacy stuff that everyone still uses. Like try mounting a network drive without a drive letter, lol ๐Ÿ˜‚... or anything for that matter without a letter, you can't. It's how Windows works. It's so deep into the kernel, that there is no way to remove it without breaking stuff left and right.

Yep, it was the version. I was on 0.0.40, the lastest version 0.0.41 has this fixed ๐Ÿ˜‰.

Yep, it was the version. They've fixed this in the newest version ๐Ÿ˜‰.

That's why I prefer pirate/NSFW instances. This account isn't on that kind of instance, but my other accounts are. Pirate instances are preffered, since not many defederate from them because they're not NSFW. They tend to pick their server's locations very carefully, usually in countries that just don't give AF about western law and policy (they call it "offshore hosting", but in reality, they're countries like Russia or China), so it's really really hard to actually pressure them and even harder to get to the data. And even if they succseed, it'll be after years, at which point, the trace will be cold and probably not worth persuing anyway.

This is one of the methods tycoons use to launder money, by doing bank transfers to banks in countries that don't care about western policies and laws. And by doing a few back and forths, you're essentially delaying the whole thing. Hell, some of these guys died waiting to be put on trial, lol ๐Ÿ˜‚.

Yeah, I know, I was just trying to clarify and couldn't think of another term ๐Ÿคท.

The truth is, if you share something online, whether it be in a PM or publicly, it can never ever be considered private. However, a PM's content is harder to get to than reading this comment for example, that was my point.

Agreed.

But, I've lived in buildings my entired life and maybe I've gotten numb to these things... I mean, I hear them all the time, but it really doesn't bother me, I just ignore it. Hell, I even lived in a separate room shared household for about a year. I could litelarly hear everyone's converstaions... never bothered me, it was just noise.

Yeah, I get what you're trying to say now ๐Ÿ˜‰. Still, they're mostly used when doing algos, which in real world practical examples is almost never. We do all sorts of repetitive things, like sorting or user input blocks, but new algos is... something that you might do in NASA, CERN, Wall Street, not your every day programming job. Sure, you might optimize a thing or two here and there, but that's about it ๐Ÿคท.

I have to agree though that this is true. Still, it makes it more difficult if you have to work with 10s, like take a 10th of the measurement.

Nope, nothing. I use ESET Endpoint on Windows though.
