Wtf...i knew it was going to be bad, but immediately ignoring one of the primary rules of firearm safety (always treat a firearm as if it is loaded) was not what I expected.
I figured it was going to be an accidental discharge while unloading.

I don't follow any best practices. AUR, updates without checking the feed, etc. Been on arch for 2 years or so without any major issues.
Two days ago I decided to give hyprland a try just for some excitement. Lol.
Every time I see Jurassic Park, i'm amazed how well the effects hold up. Just such a great movie all around.
I've been listening to Cary Elwes' book "As You Wish" on audiobook. I haven't finished it yet, but i'm loving it so far.
I have the app, but haven't really used it much. I put most things into my linkding instance and forget about it. Lol.
Maybe I should start with Omnivore first to keep from clogging up my bookmarks.
My use case sounds similar to yours, so I'd second the T480. I got one 7-8 months ago, and it's been great so far. Only thing I changed was I put in a backlit keyboard.
I don't know any general laptop communities. At leasr not ones with any activity, but !thinkpad@lemmy.ml seems relatively active.
If you ever need to find a community, https://lemmyverse.net/communities is a decent place to start.
Yes! I've always noticed it here and there, but I have noticed it a lot more over the last few weeks.
Welcome back! I dabbled here and there with linux, but never got fully on board until a year or two ago.
Started by dual booting Manjaro, but had some issues with it. Moved to Arch (btw), and now my kids have the dual boot system and my daily driver is a pre-owned Thinkpad with no windows partition.
Pretty much anything I can. It's too much to type out, but my Homepage lists most of it minus any databases or reverse proxies. I also host a one person Lemmy instance. Everything but Lemmy is run on a 2013 gaming PC with Unraid.
EDIT: After posting this, I'll probably end up selfhosting an imgur alternative too...
The Shawshank Redemption. I don't have cable any more, but when I did, I'd watch it any time i saw it on.
Two. I started on lemmy.ml, but then I spun up my own instance for me and a couple friends who mentioned wanting to check out lemmy.
I hope it's obvious from your story, but just in case. Everyone, please don't ever pour gasoline on a fire. It isn't worth it.
