No signs, you hear it. It’s audible.

Do you have any citations for that?

I’m not saying you are wrong, because I’m open to new information, but that’s not ever been my understanding of how evolution works, and I’ve read a ton on the topic.

Evolution continues even if a species doesn’t obviously change over time. Unless it’s an asexual reproducing species, gene recombination ensures some level of diversity, and more opportunity for novel traits. But even a clonally reproducing species have a chance for mutations, they are just significantly more likely to be detrimental than useful.

Imagine having to go through and data entry all those dates manually from old record books or scrolls or whatever.

I also don’t blame them because sometimes that’s the only real dopamine hit they get from their entire month’s paycheck.. and that’s wildly depressing.

I’ve become an insufferable media companion in much the same way.

I see all the plot devices, I see all the tropes, especially the harmful ones and those I disagree with perpetuating. I see all the bad faith arguments and egregious illogic..

It’s frustrating for everyone involved. Wish it wasn’t so, but.. when you realize there are indeed boogeymen, you see them in the shadows because that’s where they hang out.

This is basically my strategy as well but I give them a number I’d legit be willing to sell for, currently it’s 3x what I paid for it, as-is with a required waiver on inspection.

It’s the top for the range of what I could sell my house for if it was in prime condition with the current markets, so it’s not unreasonable. Prime condition it absolutely isn’t (it needs several thousand worth of fixes, in addition to the several thousand I’ve already done on this cheap pos. It’s 140+ years old. It has problems), hence the waived inspection and as-is clause.

If they still want it, I’ll sell. It would save me tons of money getting it saleable.

But they never call/text back… not ever..

Apparently top of market price for the property plus “as is, waived inspection” will get them to leave you alone… and if you’d be willing to sell for that and they go for it, you win. They know you know your shit, so aren’t worth bothering, and you win if they go for it.

What kind do you have?

I have an ancient one, probably my great grandmothers, and the garlic just gets smashed into the square-but-actually-round holes and it’s impossible to get most of it out.

Mostly it makes smashed garlic, which I can do with a knife much more easily..

I browse by new to help start the conversation (one comment is enough to get people to click it), but it’s not a good way to find it actively happening.

If you sort by top of the last 1 or 6 hours you’ll probably have better results. Those are still pretty new but much more active conversation wise.

For me, in addition to all those other things, it’s that even most “good” companies are abusive, so there’s no escape. It’s just “how much abuse are you willing to put up with to work here?”, rather than “this place isn’t abusive”, and I can’t do that roulette anymore.

I’m taking some time off to reassess everything. Maybe in 6 months of absolutely minimal living (to coast on savings) I’ll feel better about it, but with the way things are racing downhill and picking up speed, I’m not optimistic.

Good. We desperately need this.

All I want to do with my time is take shitty jobs and unionize them (I hate my job and am quitting). I have no idea how to do that normally but this will make that goal easier.

Fun fact - a sip or two of pickle juice is a great cure for heartburn. I don’t even like pickles, but I’ll do it because it works.

I can’t stand olives, even more than I dislike pickles, so idk if olive juice would do the same, but it is, at least, not grosser from an objective view 😅
