I did a factory reset on my Roku several months ago and it works more or less like it would normally. Can’t set themes, which is the only big lack, but most of the important settings are still available. I know I can change the inputs and settings and stuff on it, though, because the hdmi1 is classed to PlayStation and 4 to computer.

I just did a factory reset and never connected to the internet. You can’t disconnect it from the internet without a reset, tho, or you’ll get “not connected” messages frequently, which I assume is what you are talking about.

I’m not super upset by legal acquisition if it’s not available here.

Thanks! It’s on my list now. I’m actually excited that it’s foreign media but not anime. (Anime is fine, but sometimes you don’t want the sameness)

From the headline and thumbnail I was sort of expecting this to be a major revelation, like omg it just started happening and it’s totally unexpected sort of thing.

It isn’t, it’s just refining the understanding and model of plate tectonics. Still super important, and interesting, of course.

Fair enough, thanks!

Lawl try getting them to actually do that. If you make a stink you’ll just get fired for one thing or another. There are plenty of people willing to do that job, since it takes little skill to start.

Hey thanks! I got it! 😁🫡

Most of those are fast food or obvious DIY fails. yawn

Clickbait garbage. Really glad I don’t get ads but do see where they would be, because my phone would probably have gonorrhea..

The market will definitely speak on this one since the platform itself isn’t monetized and there are tons of other options for those who don’t want to pay that much. If it ends up not being workable, it won’t be workable, and the model will need to adapt or fold.

I’d never pay that much for a phone app, personally, especially on android, because I’ve had apps that change dramatically to the point I no longer like/can use them. It’s a bit better on iOS because the devices are supported a lot longer with OS updates (literally the reason I switched after a lifetime with android flexibility - sick of apps not working and my phones not being supported officially for more than 2 years).

This isn’t to say I won’t pay for things I want and support - I did pay for a Plex lifetime subscription like 9 years ago ($100, it’s 120 now, and a large amount of paying for it is app access, but also managed home users so my close friends/family can be logged in to my account directly without impacting me in any way) because the value was well worth it after subscribing month to month to test it and using the free version for several years prior. The value for what I paid has increased substantially with new features and just simple longevity. The model seems to work well enough for what they provide, both to them and to their users. I can swap to another self-host if it falls apart, but in the 12 or so years I’ve been using it, only a small number of changes have negatively impacted me, and only slightly (tho I paid early, so if features were paywalled after being free, I’m not aware of it, tho they have made some previously paid things free, like plexamp). I can skip server updates and roll them back easily if it stops working with my OS, and my users wouldn’t know the difference for a long time.

This tends not to be the case with mobile apps because devices are constantly changing, and side-loading apks can be a challenge for your average person. It’s a lot less static overall than pc hardware, so app-breaking updates on older mobile hardware are way way more likely. I can’t afford new phones all the time, so that’s a problem to me.

I’m looking at the relative useful lifecycle of the software. If I can get maybe a couple years before my OS version isn’t properly supported to run the app anymore, and it’s difficult to fix without upgrading hardware or rooting and flashing (not something everyone can or wants to do), I probably don’t want it. I turned off automatic app updates for years because of this issue, but they stop working after a while anyway.

Yes, really.

Maybe you are spending more than I am on your TVs, but even after it became more common it still wasn’t standard apparently. It wasn’t something I looked for or knew to look for, being one of those things that isn’t really a selling point for most people and all.

The only reason I even know mine doesn’t have it is video games, I just found out a few months back, and frankly I just set the gama high within the game and call it good. Been doing that for many many years. The whites are more blinding than they used to be but that’s about it. Frankly I assumed the problem was with the backlighting.

I just assumed the media issue was, in fact, a media issue (which it -abso-fucking-lutely is-! If you need a special [even if common] TV device format to correct for your shit production quality by default, ya dun fucked up your production, that’s on you, not the people watching it) and went about my day oblivious as always. :)

The only thing I’m aware of recently is the reignited trilogy, which is just a remaster of the first 3 games. It’s good, but not new.

There was the 2006-2008 trilogy run, I assume that’s what you mean? I have new beginning for gc, didn’t even realize it wasn’t part of the original series since it was only 2 years after heroes tail.. guess I’ll have to find an adapter to hook that sucker up and play it again.

Recent is a bit… misleading. Water purification through various means have been known and used for… a long time. The ancient Greeks knew about sand and gravel filtration, for example, and that boiling might help keep them safe.

And like I have a reverse osmosis unit installed in my house and have for 10 years, which would turn pee into water if pee was coming through my cold water pipes. (I heave lead, this gets rid of that)

Honestly at this point I feel like you are JAQing off, so no I’m not going to waste my breath. If you don’t want to understand me from the pretty clear information I’ve already given, spending time giving you a detailed hypothetical is just a waste of my time.

It’s not about misunderstanding, it’s about a loss of information that already exists built in that you are looking to erase for no reason. That’s dumb.

I’m a linguist, so I’m all for language evolving naturally if that’s what happens. In this case, because the underlying information is actively more valuable than you seem to think it is, I will continue to resist any efforts to change it to useless Reddit garbage. This place is currently better than that, and I’d like to keep it that way.
