Interesting piece. The author claims that LLMs like Claude and ChatGPT are mere interfaces for the same kind of algorithms that corporations have been using for decades and that the real "AI Revolution" is that regular people have access to them, where before we did not.

From the article:

Consider what it took to use business intelligence software in 2015. You needed to buy the software, which cost thousands or tens of thousands of dollars. You needed to clean and structure your data. You needed to learn SQL or tableau or whatever visualization tool you were using. You needed to know what questions to ask. The cognitive and financial overhead was high enough that only organizations bothered.

Language models collapsed that overhead to nearly zero. You don’t need to learn a query language. You don’t need to structure your data. You don’t need to know the right technical terms. You just describe what you want in plain English. The interface became conversation.

Just want to clarify, this is not my Substack, I'm just sharing this because I found it insightful.

The author describes himself as a "fractional CTO"(no clue what that means, don't ask me) and advisor. His clients asked him how they could leverage AI. He decided to experience it for himself. From the author(emphasis mine):

I forced myself to use Claude Code exclusively to build a product. Three months. Not a single line of code written by me. I wanted to experience what my clients were considering—100% AI adoption. I needed to know firsthand why that 95% failure rate exists.

I got the product launched. It worked. I was proud of what I’d created. Then came the moment that validated every concern in that MIT study: I needed to make a small change and realized I wasn’t confident I could do it. My own product, built under my direction, and I’d lost confidence in my ability to modify it.

Now when clients ask me about AI adoption, I can tell them exactly what 100% looks like: it looks like failure. Not immediate failure—that’s the trap. Initial metrics look great. You ship faster. You feel productive. Then three months later, you realize nobody actually understands what you’ve built.

Ideally, I'd love for Dems to just start taking credit for everything MAGA brags about. Since apparently the Republicans aren't in charge.

Well, yeah. "House" no longer means "Place where people live". It's now defined as "long-term investment/passive income generator".

There's a Minecraft server that has books and articles stored. it's called The Uncensored Library, (visit.uncensoredlibrary.com), and they have various articles and books that are free to view. The Uncensored Library was created by Reporters Without Borders. If I were the people of the Internet Archive, I'd be talking to the folks in the RSF about porting some of their content to this virtual library.

They want their perceived enemies to make the first move. They might be calling for violence, but many of them are cowards and also love to play victim and win the sympathy Olympics.

Typically, events such as these are organized by the Koch Family. They handle the nuts-and-bolts and technical end of things. Trump's campaign may have called this meeting, but I guarantee the Kochs will be providing the support.

Don't expect any leaks. They take extreme measures to prevent leaks:

1.) The guest list is kept a closely guarded secret, and has pictures to prevent impostors.

2.) The location where the conference will take place, usually a swanky, secluded resort, is also kept secret, and accepting an invite means you are also sworn to secrecy, as the location will not be told to you until you accept the invitation.

3.) The resort staff is screened and work assignments are changed to be far from the actual events and the rooms of the attendees.

4.) They routinely sweep for bugs and listening devices, and use white noise emitters to throw off parabolics.

5.) Any paper materials, either distributed by the event host or personal notes of the attendees, of the event are confiscated and destroyed.

They basically follow all the same rules that might be in place at a convention for people with TS/SCI clearance and the convention hall is a massive SCIF. But full of people plotting to undermine our democracy.

They're calling him Don Poorleone, and I love it.

Yeah, people stopped caring about work because we all know it doesn't matter. You can give every last inch of yourself to your employer and they will simply say "not enough". You can give your left kidney to an executive in need of a transplant, in the hopes that it will look good on your review, and the executive will say, "Should have given me both kidneys.". They are hungry and ravenous beasts, who bite and bite and bite and are never full.

And the Judge was furious they couldn't give him a harsher sentence. That five years was quite literally throwing the book at him. It's a felony, though, so even after he gets out he'll be stripped of his rights to vote or purchase a firearm. His job prospects will dwindle to the point of non-existence. And I think he'll be prevented from owning a computer or accessing the Net, given the nature of his crime.

Reminder that student loans, like mortgages, are rolled up into an investment vehicle called the SLABS, or Student Loan Asset Backed Securities. Student Loan Forgiveness would tank the value of the SLABS, and I guarantee you our elected officials have money tied up in them. Since a student loan can't be discharged through bankruptcy, it's typically a very safe investment.

They do this all the time. Maybe Biden should call their bluff, execute his powers as Commander in Chief, and order the National Guard in Texas to turn on State Police.

[-] AutistoMephisto@lemmy.world 39 points 2 years ago

Even simpler than that. Biden is the Commander in Chief. Abbot can mobilize the National Guard in his state, but at the end of the day if their commander receives a stand down order direct from the President, they MUST obey, or it's insubordination and the penalty for insubordination within the military is much higher than in the private sector.

And they themselves will be betrayed. Just ask any recently divorced Florida woman what happened when they put time limits on alimony payments. Women who voted for the "Leopards Eating People's Faces" Party shocked when the leopards ate their faces.

Barry fucking Goldwater knew these kinds of people were trying to take over his party, and he for sure wasn't a Democrat.

"Frankly these people frighten me. Politics demands compromise. These people believe they're acting in the name of God, so they can't and won't compromise. I know, I've tried dealing with them.".

I remember when many GOP lawmakers were reliving what happened on 1/6, and talking about how Trump almost got THEM killed, and I thought finally, we were going to see some action, thought they would finally have Trump cooked. So naive, I was.

I fully believe it has to do with Project2025. They want it so bad they are willing to die for it, and in all likelihood even kill for it.
