That’s the definition for games consoles specifically, I know you pulled it from wiki :)

Every computer that comes preinstalled with windows also falls under your definition though as does any Mac.

Linux was also developed for or spurned by a system that was proprietary and only for educational purposes MINIX.

You might not understand what homebrew in a software sense is then full stop. Homebrew in software just means not commercially made/backed.

GNU/Linux and plenty of other open source projects that power your modern life and the internet started the same way.

It’s not to do with user posted links. Google and Facebook both offer “news” areas of their website.

“Our” that’s one big assumption there brother not everyone here is American. I don’t know why you assume the U.S military budget is stopping Universal credit being a thing over there it’s a far more deeply rooted issue than just the military budget. Look how contentious even something like the Obama care was never mind a full blow universal care system.

Opening the comments section of stories like this is always a real eye opener for the type of people lemmy has attracted kinda sad.

You literally just said I was right and regurgitated everything I said in other words...You just admitted its too hard for them so their system is subpar. They can advertise it would just make less than SFW advertisements.

Realistically nothing is stopping them from doing so it’s their own policies which is kinda dumb af. All they’d have to do is prevent ads from brands that don’t want to be associated with it from showing there.

The fact they don’t show advertisements on NSFW subs/posts just tells me their advertising tools and targeting are absolutely sub par.

Personally I try games out on Gamespass and if I actually enjoy them enough and want the extras I buy it on Steam.

Couldn’t do it to myself, there is a reason MVNOS are cheaper they get deprioritised access to the network and the big one they collect all your data for selling.
